At Winthorpe and Valentine (a great name for a Philadelphia restaurant), the food is good, the ambience is surprisingly elegant - almost like eating in a living room with a nice bar area - and the service is wonderful. Although the restaurant is in the Westin hotel in the Liberty Place complex, locals should not hesitate to check it out. The servers and other personnel, who deal primarily with out of town guests, are gracious and well-trained. Also an excellent place for a business...
This is a nice restaurant in the Westin Hotel in center city Philadelphia. I've been here many times for lunch and dinner as it's very close to my office. Went to Winthorpe & Valentine over the holidays for a family get together. The food was excellent and the ambience was nice and quiet. The service was fair, but really slow. Bar service was slow as well and selections limited. There were no visual links or memorabilia to connect the bar to its namesake movie, which was also a dissappointment. If you're looking for a quiet, out of the way bar/lounge for a leisurely lunch this would be an adequate choice.
