Love their ice cream. Flavors switch often.

I remember when Dave and Andy's opened. My husband and I both attended Pitt and loved to celebrate just about anything with their ice cream. We left the 'burgh in 1988, but we always stop in for a cone when we are in town - sitting on the wall across from the Big O was part of the experience. I am glad someone purchased the shop when the founders retired.

Good customer service and portion size for kids and adults. The homemade ice cream was fantastic and my son tried the new slushes and enjoyed it.

Mid ice cream, overrated. Don’t get the 4.6 star hype

I'm honestly shocked at the high reviews. I just moved to Pittsburgh and I tried Millie's & this and this was just your average ice cream shop. Prices were good, but I think I sampled 3 flavors and wasn't impressed. I settled on the birthday cake and it was probably the worst birthday cake flavor I've ever had. It wasn't horrible, just kind of...flavorless? And not very creamy. Millie's outshines this place by FAR.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for Dave & Andy’s Ice Cream!! This iconic ice cream parlor has been scooping joy in Oakland since 1983 with over 200+ flavors made fresh in-house—and yes, they hand-roll those heavenly waffle cones right on site!
After a brief closure last year, they’re back and just as nostalgic as ever. The moment you walk in, you’re hit with the delicious smell of fresh waffle cones being made. Each week, they feature 24 rotating flavors—core classics plus seasonal specials—so there’s always something new to try.
Grab a cone, cup, sundae, or milkshake—or take home a pint or two! Indoor and outdoor seating lets you soak in the old-school charm, with their classic benches adding to the vibe.
I had a birthday cake ice cream in a fresh handmade waffle cone and it totally hit the spot. Also tried a mint chocolate chip milkshake topped with whipped cream and a cherry —pure nostalgia! And for the ultimate sweet treat, don’t miss their dirt dessert cup: cookies & cream with chocolate pudding, Oreo crumbles, and gummy worms. A fan-favorite, especially with the younger crowd!
Whether it’s your first visit or your hundredth, Dave & Andy’s is the kind of place that always feels like summer.

LIFE. CHANGED. 😭🍦✨ Walked into Dave & Andy’s just expecting a scoop… but Peyton Music delivered an ice cream experience 😍 She hyped up the Grasshopper flavor and OMG she did NOT lie! It was minty, magical, and made my soul happy 💚🌿 I casually asked for a cone on the side and she slayed that too. 👑 The enthusiasm? Unmatched. The vibes? Immaculate. The service? Michelin-star level (if that existed for ice cream). 🙌 Go here. Ask for Peyton. Thank me later. 🍨💫

Very fresh, must try

Delicious ice cream! It’s gotten a little less retro and welcoming since the reopening, but if you’re taking your ice cream to go you wouldn’t even notice a change.

Please bring back your old cookie dough!!! It was my favorite. Now the chunks are WAY too big and they taste different, more artificial.

I was excited to stop by after they reopened! I really enjoyed my ice cream and was happy to see that they’re keeping up with the more fun flavors the previous owners were known for. Prices are good and staff is nice. I just wish the interior wasn’t so sterile and drab now. Going from the colorful 70s vibe to everything being white was a bit of a shock and didn’t feel super welcoming or unique. I’m hoping that, as they’re open longer, they get a better sense of their new brand and how to present it.

The ice cream was really good. Excellent quality and they had a nice variety. I got a scoop of ginger ice cream and toasted marshmallow ice cream in a waffle cone. The ginger was mild but very much there. It has a nice depth of flavor while not being too in your face.
I've not seen ginger ice cream anywhere.

The toasted marshmallow was great and had all the flavors you'd expect. Really happy with the flavors and the amount you get for the price. Very very good ice cream place
