My husband and I are big fans of Duolingo so stopping here on our trip to Pittsburgh was a must. However, the experience was somewhat unremarkable. The main disappointment was that we made a special request on our reservation that not only was not honored, it was not even mentioned by the hostess or our waiter. It made me wonder why I even bothered writing it. It’s a good restaurant- we ordered the Baja fish tacos and the beef tartare tostadas, along with the Ahn and Ahn and the Post Watermelone drinks. The drinks were very original, I’ve never seen anything like them. The food was just okay though. I’ve had similar dishes in other restaurants, in other cities. It is a small restaurant with a date night kind of vibe inside, at least when we were there at 7 pm.

WOW!!!! That is the best way to describe this place. I was visiting Pittsburgh for a business trip and had to stay in the East Liberty section of town. My friend and I were looking for a good place for dinner and boy did we find a TRUE HIDDEN GEM.
We saw that Duo's Taqueria had great reviews, but we were a little concerned when we got there due to the exterior, When we walked in we knew we found a special place.
The young lady that was the hostess greated us with the warmest most friendliest smile I have have ever seen. Anya did an outstanding job of finding us a seat at the bar since there were no tables available. That is where our incredible dining experience really took off.
Garrett was working the bar and quickly greated us with another warm welcome and explained the drink menu to us. This place has a vast selection of tequilas and mezcal. I explained that I was not a big tequila fan and he suggested a perfect drink for me from their cocktail menu. My friend had a margerita, which was also delicious. Garrett explained that it was a special night because the chef was making homemade papusas using her Mom's family recipe. We ordered two different ones and were blown away by the flavor. They were truly worth driving back for.
While waiting for the food we met another bartender named Migdalia. I couldn't believe there were this many high quality people in such a small establishment. She went out of her way to make sure we did not miss any of the other must have items on the menu. We went ahead and took her suggestion and ordered the guacamole and the tuna tostada. We also decided to try the braised goat shoulder.
Another wonderful employee served us our guac named Olivia and we found out that she was the Assistant Manager. It is clear where this staff learned their customer service skills because Olivia was on point. She told us about the restaurant and more importantly about the Executive Chef and that they are being considered for a prestigious James Beard Award. I can tell you this Chef not only has the skill but also the creativity to win this award.
I hope you took the time to read this entire review because I wanted to make sure that if you are anywhere near this area or if you just wanted to best most authentic mexican cuisine you can find you HAVE TO TRY THIS PLACE OUT!!!! Thank you again to Anya, Garrett, Migdalia, and Olivia for a truly incredible dining experience. If I didn't live 2 hours away I would be there every week.

Duos PGH is hands down one of the most special spots I’ve visited in Pittsburgh. From the moment I walked in, I felt genuinely welcomed. The vibe is unique modern yet cozy with an attention to detail that clearly shows their passion for what they do.

The food was absolutely delicious. Every dish was flavorful, beautifully plated, and made with fresh ingredients. You can tell the menu is thoughtfully crafted to offer creative and authentic options. I especially recommend all!

The service was top-notch. The staff was kind, attentive, and truly cared about making sure we had a great experience. It’s rare to find a place where you feel this well taken care of.

Duos PGH is more than just a restaurant it’s a place where great food, outstanding service, and a relaxed atmosphere come together to create something memorable. I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending it to everyone I know.

Tasty food, somewhat limited menu. What they do, they do well.
Or was a bit noisier than I prefer for conversation.

We came for lunch while visiting from out of town. We split the salsas and each got a lunch dish. Everything was very flavorful and delicious.

My family and I had been wanting to try this place, and we were thrilled to finally be able to make the trek into the city to check it out!
It didn’t disappoint! Everything from the service to the food was fantastic! My Mom and I ordered the Tostadas de Atun and my brother ordered the steak tartare tostadas which are only available for a limited time. We also opted for some chips, salsa, and guac which I highly recommend. They give you four different types of salsa to try! I’d also like to give a shout out to our bartender (my apologies for not recalling her name - we visited on the evening of 7/12) because she was amazing at helping my family decide what to order and offering a thorough explanation of each dish as well as the alcoholic beverages. Additionally, several other staff members made it a point to check in on us and make sure everything was to our liking. I have always said that you can tell a lot about the leadership at a business based off of the morale of the staff. I must say that Duo’s is knocking it out of the park! Looking forward to our next visit here! :)

Duos is located in East Liberty. I the guacamole was freshly made. The flautas were good too. The goat birria was delicious very flavorful, it was served with five of the smallest tortillas I’ve ever seen, and toppings, and you build your tacos. The menu is kind of small not many choices, everything I ordered was tasty. The prices are high, the portions are small, but overall good experience

Updating my review to protest removing Suadero tacos after lunch :(

The whole reason we loved duos was because it was trying to be an authentic “taqueria”!! Very very disappointed for removing suadero.
😭😭😭😭😭

Please return the suadero tacos!

Everything was good! These tacos got bigger and better! Thank you for the food! Thank you Elyza!
