It was my daughters 21st birthday and the bartender Mark treated all of us very kindly! Hell, even the patrons welcomed us with open arms. It was a great time and I would recommend Element to all...Even straight people.

I'm new to this city and cannot believe how the "head bartender" acts. I would be ashamed if I owned this bar, as clearly they have no oversight of their staff. If you're going out in Pittsburgh, 5801 is the place to be. Kind staff and management who do not treat newcomers to the city like they are below them.

This bar has improved tremendously in recent years, and is one of only two gay bars in this little town worth going to (the other being right up the street). Nice outdoor area. Daily specials are very good. Bartenders have all been friendly. Mark, one of the main bartenders there is absolutely phenomenal! Every day is good to go, but my husband and I especially enjoy Sundays, when 5801 is invaded by the idiot Stonewall jerks who didn't get enough attention as children and now think they can act like drunken children in public. Oh, unlike another recent reviewer, I have NEVER had drinks on my tab that I haven't ordered. Highly recommended!

Beware of bartenders loading your tab with drinks that are not yours. My advice is to use cash or better yet, chose another bar.

Element is by far one of my top picks when it comes to gay bars in Pittsburgh. The bartenders are normally nothing short of awesome, the people are always friendly, the drinks are top notch and cheap, and such a great place to go throughout the week to just relax. They also have some great events and specials every week tho I do miss some of the former specials that they use to feature. Over all great staff, great bar manager, friendly atmosphere, and great drinks!

Meh. It's small and there's almost nowhere to sit. The layout is just really strange and not conducive to watching the drag shows or hanging out with friends. Drinks are average.

At it's high point, the Elbow Room was a nice place for a light meal at a reasonable cost. But after moving from it's original location to Walnut Street in Shadyside, food quality dropped and prices climbed. Too late, it returned to it Ellsworth Avenue roots. Died a whimpering death.
