The food was deserving of 3 stars but the service ruined the experience.
These kinds of neighborhood bars are a dying breed. It is a neighborhood treasure with awesome Mexican food to boot. Phil is a great proprietor, too.

I'm from Atlanta and the service and food were top tier .It's a small intimate bar with good food.Phil was so nice, his pos system was down and he allowed me to come back the next day to pay. Plus those vegetarian nachos 10 out of 10. Homemade tortilla chips were thick enough to prevent soggy chip after sitting awhile. Definitely going back today

DO NOT GO!
The shameless owner often blocks one lane of Penn Ave with their stupid van!
To the owner: keep parking on Penn if you love one star reviews

A Pittsburgh staple! The perfect dive bar. Phil is super kind and has a great sense of humor for keeping the parking thing going for 50 years- the determination is admirable. So hilarious how annoyed people get over a parking spot.
This bar has lots of character. It’s a true dive. Smoke machine for cigarettes, skill games, cash only, don’t expect fancy $15 cocktails, they have great cold beers on draft- all the classics, the glass is always ice cold which makes all the difference. The food is AMAZING. Try the tacos & the quesadilla!! I was skeptical at first, but found that the food is fantastic. Honestly, some of my favorite Mexican food in the city, and for a reasonable price.
Give this place a try. Yinz won’t regret it!

Owner is not respectful of the community with their Quixotic parking fight; wastes the govts time and public space, and endangers the safety of drivers

Food tastes like it came straight out of the dumpster. Not surprising when you see what a disgusting slob the owner is.

Don't even waste your time with this place. Even the owner is a complete and total jagoff and completely disregards all traffic all because of his own arrogance or laziness take your pick.
