I'm new to the neighborhood and was looking around at places to grab a bite and get a cake for a multi generational birthday party coming up for my two kids, my wife and father in law all at the beginning of June. Well, I'm sitting at the light on Perrysville about 1:20 pm on Memorial Day 2023 and noticed the Father & Son's sign, I looked a little closer and saw people behind the counter but a "Sorry We're Closed" sign. So I was sitting there absent mindedly noting that this is a place to check out later and waiting for the light to turn as some guy maybe in his early 20s with a stringy mullet, ball cap, black jeans and UGG boots walks out from behind the counter to to the doorway asking if I have a problem and to look at the "effing" road and other random weird stuff. Well, at first I thought about getting out of the car and straightening him out but I thought about how inconveniently placed this bakery is so not only will I not go there because of parking I definitely don't want that kind of person having anything to do with my food. I have a friend that owns a pretty busy business on that corner too and they'll certainly be interested in this. My friends and I definitely have better bakeries to enjoy around the city that deserve my money.
Cute place with lots of great bakery items. The Apple fritter was fantastic. I got my fiancé a jelly filled powered sugar donut. He said it was lovely. I also got a long chocolate sprinkle donut. I was surprised there wasn’t filling in there but I think I just got the wrong one. My fiancé said there wasn’t anything special about the everything bagel but this also was when he was woofing it down.
I was so said when the bakery that was here before this closed, but Father & Son has lived up to my very high expectations! (I’m kind of a donut aficionado ?!) Super nice employees as well. I watched an employee give a kid a bag of donuts for at least 5$ off, when he didn’t have enough money. Love this spot, be sure to check it out!
Donuts are usually of good quality. Today drove all the way there to find they had closed earlier than what is posted. What a waste.
I bought a muffin and it was hard as a brick. Go to Giant Eagle there bake goods are 100% better.
Bought donuts for the office. Super nice people and yummy donuts. Great to have a bakery in the area
Bought a half a dozen of donuts yesterday, $10 absolutely stale!!!I should have took the whole box back when I bit into the first one, when I got home! These had to be probably some of the worst donuts I've ever ate!!!! anywhere in the whole world! I swear they are two days old! Will never get another dollar out of me! Nowhere near the same place that was and didn't expect it to be, but could have used donuts for hockey balls That's how hard they were! No exaggeration!
Best donuts in Pittsburgh! The cream and jelly filled are excellent, and they don’t skimp on the filling. The donuts melt in your mouth. We were so happy to discover this place. The people that work there are also so lovely. If you are craving donuts, this is the place to go!
I stopped by this place today. It was just before noon when I visited so the good donuts that I heard they have were all gone. They did still have some danishes left. I had a cherry danish and it was delicious!! I also had a chocolate cake thing that had cream on top with chocolate fondant covering it all. So delicious!! The shop isn't far from Riverview Park so you can enjoy eating the pastries in a wooded setting before a nice hike.
I’d have to say this is the best mom and pops shop around ! Their cakes and pastries are amazing ! They did an outstanding job on my birthday cake ! I was very pleased . Not to mention all of the other cakes that I’ve requested for other peoples birthdays . They’re literally ALWAYS spot on and amazingly beautiful when they’re done ! They’re very friendly there and pleasant to talk to early in the a.m .I highly suggest getting a cake and pastries from here ! HUGE THUMBS UP !!!!!

I admit, I only got one thing, since they reopened, the glazed donuts. I'm sorry. These used to be the best glazed in the city; not anymore. They must have a different baker or recipe ???
Mom & Pop type bakery. Picked up some donuts and a bagel. The donuts are very good and the bagel was excellent. There's public parking directly across the street.
Obviously I'm in the minority here and that's fine. The staff are great but it seems to me they're using very poor ingredients...Everything I've bought from them tastes like it's two days old (if it had any taste). Just now I had two bites and threw the rest away. I used to think F&S was a half step above Giant Eagle, now I think they're a couple steps below--and Giant Eagle is simply mediocre.
Yes, you must! So many good things to try and old fashioned crumb cake. Donuts are amazing and you don’t have to search for the filling. They don’t charge an arm and a leg either.
Our School's PTO ordered 7 dozen donuts for the school staff. The donuts were ready on time, the staff was super helpful and friendly and the donuts were DELICIOUS!
