Gobs, Gobs, Gobs! We visited to sample all flavors of gobs and the burnt almond torte they are known for. The bakery did not disappoint. Everything was so delicious. The only problem is now finding a place in Chicago (my home) that can fill my gob cravings!

I tried many treats during my visit to Prantl's Bakery. All of them weredelicious and fresh. I would recommend this bakery to anyone and the staff is very friendly. Burnt Almond Torte Cake is the best. Loved everything I tried. A+++++

I used to live in Pittsburgh but moved in 2007 . I love the almond torte of which the bakery is known for. I traveled to Pgh and had a craving for the torte. I went to purchase the torte and I received a pre packaged item . I was skeptical but continued with my purchase . I’m sure Prandl’s bakery is under new ownership but the torte was still good but could use improvement. I think I paid 40 dollars for an 8 by 8 prepackaged cake . The cake was moist and the almonds were very good . My disappointment was that the cake had a very thin layer of the icing . It used to have at least 1/4 inch of icing .

The apple strudel was cold as ice and was not very good regardless of the temperature. The service was not exactly warm either we felt unwelcome and the cashier just looked at us bored and irritated.

My CPA accountant said it was the best cake she ever ate. It was for Christmas and after 10 years of treats, she just raved about this cake being the best. Guess what she gets next year.

This was our second time in Pittsburgh but one stop that was definitely on our list was a trip to Prantl’s. This is hands down the best burnt almond cake you will find. I have been looking forward to coming back since our last visit. Service was awesome. Cake was delicious. This is a must visit place for anyone visiting Pittsburgh.

Amazing bakery…yes get the almond cake even though you aren’t a huge almond fan. They have mini versions and it was sooo good. Should have ordered more than 2 minis. The elephant ears are huge! Size of a dinner plate. Also ordered empanadas which we are looking forward to, but haven’t eaten yet. Everything was well packed with easy, quick pick up. No long lines when you pre-order! Closed Sundays do plan accordingly!

Stopped in here after eating at Pamela’s near it. Picked out 4 different items and it ended up being $15. Did not like the price, however, every item was delicious! We chose a gob, blueberry scone, and cinnamon rolls. We didn’t have everything the same day, but it all tasted great! I would come back again!

Thought I would try the torte. I was assured it was made fresh today. It looked great. Lots of almonds. Wrapped in plastic wrap. The icing was VERY sparse as was the filling. The cake was very crumbly and fell apart too easily. It was lack luster in flavor as well. $35 and not impressed at all.

I really did not want to have to write this review but sadly I am going to. It was the first time going there for my family. We went there as opposed to my usual bakery because they have not been there. My sons items were not fresh. I should not spend good money on items and have to microwave them on the same day. I am not sure we will be back. I did however send them a message.

The bakery is average at best. Stop buying this almond torte because of an outdated huff post article. My experience with it is that it’s always incredibly dry and crumbles uncontrollably. For the high price that you’re paying for such a small cake, you can find much better almond tortes in the city. I get that it’s a hometown favorite, but if you have any sort of discerning taste or are looking for quality, you are not going to find it here. Their secondary locations in North Huntington and Greensburg consistently lack a variety of options. The only thing worth getting here is the thumbprint cookies (but good luck finding variety at one of the secondary shops.)

Always have good fresh selection.

Actually, I gave away the almond tortes I purchased that day from Prantl's -- they were really excellent gifts.
