We have tried to eat at this restaurant about a dozen times when we've come to see shows in Pittsburgh. We've made reservations online only to be told when we get to the restaurant that they don't have a reservation for us. This has happened at least twice. We've also walked up to the restaurant after seeing through the window that there were plenty of extra tables, even walking up not long after they opened and it was dead inside only to be told there is no seating available. It's starting to get weird. How do you eat at this restaurant. Do I need a special password or what?

We loved it here! It was so busy, there was a line first thing on a Saturday night. However, we were seated quickly and were still able to get out with plenty of time to get to our show! We got the special, a dry aged strip, and it was delightful. The bartenders were very attentive and provided wonderful service. We were so impressed with our first experience, will definitely be back!

Showed up late Sunday evening, had great service and phenomenal food. Beef Wellington was well prepared, carpaccio hit the spot.

This is the 2nd time in 2 week we go and I order the same filet. I order it medium rare and it comes out well done. Simply unacceptable at this level. I gave them a pass the first time because every kitchen can mess up every now and then. It was a 9 pm reservation so that steak was likely one of few if not the only one cooking.

Overall just a so-so dining experience. While the service from Bella was exceptional the food fell short of our expectations. The caesar salad, even without the anchovies, was very salty tasting and the welsh rarebit was disappointing - probably because it was very different from welsh rarebits experienced in other restaurants in the past - missing the bacon and strong cheesy taste. However the Rossini burger was very good and it came with enough house fries to feed an army of eaters.

Really poor quality steaks for the price. Both the New York and the hangar steaks were not very good

Really lovely space and great playlist, definitely a very cool vibe. We were greeted by a wonderful host and felt very welcomed. Our server was lovely as were most of the staff that came to the table. The food was fine, I found some choices quite odd, such as unseasoned bean sprouts thrown on the top of quite dry wagyu carpaccio. Also the double pork chop placed on top of what tasted like Heinze sweet beans. Two things I found pretty bad. I ordered a Cesar salad for my app and the server had that split, which was nice, but not asked for or offered and there was a $4 split charge added to the bill. Also my friend ordered a Martini and got an additional $4 charge for the vermouth, it was a martini. So up charging guests quietly like this, in my opinion, is a pretty bad practice. 5.3/10

Our server had the best personality. I was traveling with my children and he was gracious and funny! It was our favorite meal of our trip to Pittsburg because of him.

This was our first visit to Meat and Potatoes. We were in town from Philly for a college visit to Pitt with our daughter. Our server Bri V. was very personable and provided great service! The “Sweater Weather” and “Root to Berry” cocktails were perfect. My wife and I shared the Tomahawk steak and our daughter had the NY Strip with mashed potatoes. We got the carrots, creamed spinach and fingerling potatoes as sides. This was one of the most tasty meals we have ever had! The flavor of the steak was fantastic! It was cooked perfectly medium and the au jus is so good. All of the sides had absolutely delicious flavor. My wife and I were too stuffed for dessert, but our daughter had the chocolate chip cookies and she loved it. It’s a great ambiance and atmosphere whether you’re sitting at the bar or at a table. We look forward to visiting again next time we’re in the Burgh!

You wouldn’t think it, but this place is phenomenal for vegans!! Wish I had checked the menu sooner. What a cool spot for a pre-show dinner and what a delight to have such good vegan food at a restaurant named Meat & Potatoes. Also phenomenal NA cocktails, but just overpriced juice but real quality mocktails.
