Stumbled in here on Halloween. We were in town for a show at PPG arena the next night. The bartenders were very attentive, engaging and friendly. We only had drinks and enjoyed our visit. This will be a must stop for us next time we are in town.

Prices are good, very good for downtown. Service was quick and friendly.
Food was great too. Got the tuna melt, it hit the spot.
My favorite part is them opening the place up, definitely a place to hit when the weather is nice.
I didn't get anything to drink but water. So my bill being less than $20 is just food.
Parking: It's downtown, and I'm unaware of any parking being provided. You probably have to find parking and walk a couple blocks.

A cozy bar downtown and within walking distance of many venues. They usually don't serve dinner on Sundays but had a limited menu and closed at 7 pm since Bruce Springsteen was at PPG Paints arena that night. It was the perfect place for a quick dinner before an amazing show. There was not a huge variety if you want wine, but a great selection of beers and full bar. The service was friendly and efficient on a busy evening and the I'm burger was amazing. I'd go back to try the full menu. Looking forward to my next visit to Pitt to visit Mitchell's again.

Friendly, fast service today at lunchtime. Food was very reasonably priced for this day and age. Best fries with gravy I've ever had. Will definitely come back!
I have been going here on and off for the better part of 15 years now. It was one of my favorite spots for lunch. It used to have a friendly vibe. In the past year or so that vibe is gone. It's not as warm, welcoming, or friendly. I recently stopped in, like I have been weekly for years, the day after the 4th. A sign out front highlighted drink specials for the day. I went in and sat down, asking for a lunch menu. I was the only customer. The bartender let me know the kitchen was closed for the day. I thanked her and made my way out. As I was leaving, a guy sitting in the back seat at the bar where he normally sits said loudly to the bartender "you would think people know how to read or would look at the signs before they come in." When I got outside I made a point to look at the signs again and nowhere did it state the kitchen was closed. I don't know what role this guy plays at this establishment but I get the impression he is part of ownership, and can often be found sitting there. The family vibe of this place is gone and has been for a while. I continued to go because the food is very good. These days it feels like a click. Your either in or your not. If your not that friendly environment this place was known for is gone. Come here if like good food with a side of condescension.

Mitchell's has great bartenders, good friends, always a good time. That's why I come here. Nice relaxing place to relax. Always felt welcome since the first day I walked in the door and Joe and I had a long conversation. Met all the other bartenders and this is the most consistent atmosphere I have seen, not just downtown, but anywhere in Pittsburgh. This is a bar that feels like home.
