Would you like lasagna with your sauce? That's what I would title this review.
I was not impressed with Piccolo. The atmosphere was nice. The service was good. But the food was a disappointment. This restaurant came highly recommended by a friend, so expectations were high. I decided to get the lasagna based on the recommendation of another friend. The noodles were overcooked. The dish was over-sauced. I mean WAY over-sauced. And it was too salty for my liking. My wife had the spaghetti. It was pretty spicy. I'm a fan of spice. Her, not as much. She was told by our server that the spice level was about a 4 out of 10. I would rate it at about a 6. So if you don't like spicy, stay away from it.
Overall, I wasn't a fan, although I won't say I'll never return. I will give it another try at some point because it's very conveniently located to where I live. But there was nothing about this restaurant that wowed me or compelled me to return.

Amazing food and service. Spaghetti was excellent and the short rib ragu was so good! Our server Ben was excellent - gave great recommendations and very knowledgeable of the food!

Went here for my birthday. Not impressed. $$$$ for no reason. Good salad. Decent pizza soggy bottom the crust saves. Bland flavorless lasangas. Our food barley fit on the table. We tried the meat one and the pea puree one. Both were cold and lacking flavor where's the love where's the seasoning. I had to add salt I never add salt to anything. Maybe start serving alcohol

It has been a minute since I have been here and boy was that a mistake! Everything was fabulous! I had the Ravioli in Bolognese sauce , finished with the Tiramisu! Everything was to die for! The Ravioli was perfectly al dented, the sauce was rich but not overpowering, and the Tiramisu was delectable with a hint of lemon. Yum!!!

My friend and I were enjoying our experience, but then the server came over to tell us the next reservation was coming in 5 minutes. We had multiple courses. We were still finishing our dessert & our wine. We hadn’t even had the table for very long at all. We were rushed out as soon as we paid our bill. It’s a shame because the food is decent, but that experience soured our evening. I don’t know if I’d return after that. :(
The food is good, definitely not my favorite Italian place in PGH though. The spaghetti was pretty flavorless. Charcuterie board, lasagna, Calabrese pizza & tiramisu were great!! The pasta comes in large portions. We bought a bottle of wine from the attached bar since it is BYOB; very good Cab Sav.

Easy 5-star rating here, from our server (Gabby) to the Brussels sprouts app (best ever), wine selection (from next door 😉), salads, and, of course, the pizza! An all around excellent experience. We'll be back.

Piccolo Forno was a hop, skip, and a jump from our Air Bnb. Started by splitting a salad misto with the tastiest salad dressing. Hubby got Mortadella y pistachio pizza with basil and burata cheese. I got spaghetti with shrimp, crab, yellow squash, zucchini, tomato, capers in a Calabrian butter on the perfectly prepared spaghetti. It was delicious! Oddly to us it was a bring your own bottle of wine with a $8 charge to open the bottle or buy a bottle from the next door store and they deliver it to your table with no $8 charge to open the bottle. It’s evidently a Pennsylvania thing. It all worked out. Just wanted to give a heads up to you out of staters. I’m sorry I took my food photo after I’d eaten a bit. It was a very good meal with good service. We got in without a reservation on a Thursday. You might not be so lucky on the weekend.
