I’ll save a bagel review for an update later but I needed to sing the praises of the vegan fig rugelach. It was an impulse buy that I couldn’t resist when I saw them in the case. The dough is light and flavorful and the icing has the perfect amount of sweetness. Also, despite the non-stop crowd the staff is very friendly and efficient. These are probably the best bagels in Pittsburgh. The texture and the crust are just right. The coffee was good too. I wish there was a place to sit down and savor them, though. Saturday AM there is a line down the street, and parking can be tough if you don’t live nearby. A little pricey for a bagel with butter, but it’s a REALLY good bagel.
As someone who grew up eating bagels in NY, my standards are pretty high. I would give the bagel and spread a 6.5. It was pretty hard and small but the flavor was good. You can tell they put a lot of labor into making the flavor good. Mostly it was texturally difficult to get into. The service is great, and it’s nice to see a bunch of queer people in a bagel spot. Ive missed bagels since moving here, but this doesn’t hit the nostalgia spot. It’s something very different...
