Cash only, take out only. PNC Bank across the street if you need an ATM.

I was born and raised nearest pizza shop. 37 years on this Earth and I've been eating their pizza. Over my years with travel, I've had pizza from many states across the country due to work and vacation. This has always been the number one pizza for me.
The sauce usually is not overbearing in the amount that they put on, it seems to be just right. The sauce is real sweet herbs/spices in the sauce are not pungent and they compliment the sweetness real well. I sincerely have never had a dough like their dough. Yep with a flakiness to it. I always tell people that I think of biting into a fresh donut and chewing that. I just had some last night, introduced my girlfriend's family to it. Her dad doesn't do pizza much because the crust is too tough with his dentures. He thoroughly enjoyed their pizza, said the crust was perfect.
I'm not sure where they acquired their cheese or their process to it, but it is really good mozzarella. Looking at it, I would guess that they great it themselves from blocks. The sauce is a family recipe and I'm pretty darn certain that they make the dough themselves. I wish they were open more than 3 days a week.

Family owned and operated. They've been open since long before I was born.

10 out of 10, I recommend this place to everyone. If you are a pizza lover, you have to try this! You WILL be hooked.

One last thing to mention. You can buy a frozen or cold uncooked pizza with instructions so you can cook it at home. This is wonderful if you're traveling somewhere and want to expose someone to this pizza. So convenient, this helped me when I would visit a friend an hour away.

Do yourself a favor and stop in on one of the three days they're open, I promise you won't regret it.

My friend & I just found this place, despite living just 1 mile from it for many years, so it's very easy to miss. The pizza is amazing. I wasn't sure what I thought at first about the sweet sauce, but it grew on me almost immediately. Its unique and delicious. Crust and cheese are divine. I'd give it a 9/10 and I will definitely be back. And soon! they do have limited hours but it's worth it to go on their time.

In trying out all the pizza places in my area, and along 51, we find this cozy pizza joint that's all too easy to miss if you don't happen to be looking through the storefronts. What is there to say?

First off, if you google their online menu right now as of 11-7-22, it's not correct. It's for a different place. All they offer at Pizza Shack is a standard Pizza in a few sizes, and with different toppings. Though, I believe they do offer them in a form ready to be frozen and stuffed into an oven at home. I may be wrong there, but I think I recall seeing that inside.

Second, this place is Cash Only. No card. So, bring the bills if you want to order.

But now, with that aside, how was the pizza?

As you might expect from any place that hopes to survive as Cash Only, the pizza was very, very good! I am willing to qualify that the sauce was very sweet, and it did run a fair bit. However, there wasn't too much (or too little), and it had good signs of being very freshly made. Which I think stacks with the fact you can watch them make pizza in front of you when you go to pick it up.

It may seem rather unappealing when every place tries to come up with a signature pizza, or offer a dozen options of appetizers. But, if you just want a conventional pizza you might find anywhere, and want to emphasize the hand-made touch? I'd strongly consider Pizza Shack.

I'll also include a photo I took of their menu in this review.

First two clipped toppings are Sausage and Pepperoni.

Just lost a lifetime customer. Has gone way downhill since the kids took over. Tonight was the actual worst pizza I have ever had. Never mind the skimpy toppings, the crust tasted like it was sitting out since yesterday. First time I’ve ever had stale pizza. They should be ashamed of what they’ve done to the business.

This pizza is honestly awesome, HOWEVER we have never had pizza sauce so incredibly sweet before that you can taste the sugar. It legit tastes like jelly in place of sauce. But the crust and cheese is amazing. Despite how sweet it is, I would definitely get it again for the crust alone...I think it is the best crust I've ever had in Pittsburgh. Con: you must have cash but other than that awesome!

On the menu board it inside it shows there are 6 toppings available not including x cheese or x sauce. I called today and was told I can't have more than 5 toppings plus extra sauce because "the pizza won't cook right" I was told by the guy that answered the phone. 6 toppings but can only order 5, I guess. Not like the last time when I ordered the exact same pizza. It was ok then. However, they forgot to bake it, instead gave it to us cut up, like it was completely baked, not whole like they do when you ask for half baked. Upon picking up said pizza I immediately noticed the box wasn't hot, only warm but thought nothing of it. Got home, ate a few pieces before realizing it was only half baked when it started tasting "bad" (because it wasn't cooked thoroughly). We got half baked cut up pizza for a whopping $35! Back to today. I was told double mushrooms won't cook right, even though the total # of toppings was 5! I told the guy we only order double because they hardly put more than one piece of a topping on ea piece. Look at their pictures online, look for the mushroom pizza if you don't believe me. If you don't order double, you'll be wondering why it costs $3.50 a topping because there is barely any toppings on in it. Including very skimpy sauce, so it's necessary to order extra sauce because if you don't, it will taste unusually dry, like they do when they don't put enough sauce on. So I order double mushrooms they say ok then screw up cooking it - it wasn't that the pizza that was half baked, it was undercooked purposely and i do know from working many years at pizza places. In decades of ordering pizza before the new owners came in, they always had most generous toppings, never messed up a pizza with loads of toppings and the pizza was ALWAYS cooked through! Always! I wonder how they did that! New owners changed everything and not for the better! And this pizza is NOT cheap, it's quite expensive. Then the guy today told me "we do put more than one piece (of muschrooms) on it!" Maybe tonight they will but well, that's hit or miss i guess. Of the last 3 pizzas I ordered were all screwed up. A score of 100%. Dontes in south park or fiori's on west liberty ave are equally as good and they know what they are doing an know how to bake pizzas too! But if you do buy from here you best check your pie before taking it home. Not going back and for your sake, I hope you won't either. '
