I am orginayfrom Baltimore MD and moved to Pittsburgh recently. I have been looking for some good soul food! It was delicious. I ordered the Workshop dinner with greens and yams, my father had ribs and my husband had the fish and chicken combo it was so delicious as and the owner was so sweet and nice. He told us about his culinary journey.

9/13/25 VISITING PITTSBURG.
I ha ribs that looked to be just boiled and tuff. They put just a little sauce on them but even that didn't help.

Had rice and blackened peas. The lady sd they were good so I purchased. Yuck,,,,the rice was hard no juice form the black eyed peas.

EVERYTBODY THAT SAYS SOUL FOOD IS NOT BLACK SOUL FOOD. THIS WAS VERY DISAPPOINTING.

I’m so glad I came across this place on my visit to Pittsburgh. This is real southern soul food. The folks working there were so friendly. I came in close to closing time, but they kindly made some fresh chicken for me, and even threw in an extra wing and a piece of cake for making me wait a few minutes longer. The Mac and cheese was creamy, the collard greens perfectly flavored, and some of the best fried chicken I’ve had in a long time. If you like southern cooking, go visit this institution!

Food was really good! They cook everything fresh! The food was seasoned to perfection! Portions were pretty generous. We came here just in time before we had to leave for our flight!

Highly recommend the mac and ribs. Only criticism is the place looks closed from the outside. The open sign was off and it looked dark. I thought I had the wrong address.

One of the best soul food restaurants in town. My husband got fried Virginia Spots...he said they were excellent. They have a large variety of soul food, and I can't say anything I've ever had wasn't excellent.

Soul Food Connection is the kind of place that makes you wish you’d found it sooner! I had a craving for some ribs, so I decided to give them a try. I ordered the spare ribs, mac and cheese, and collard greens—and let me tell you, it felt like they packed a whole lot of love and flavor into that container. The ribs were tender and smoky, the mac and cheese was creamy perfection, and the greens were seasoned like a secret from someone’s grandma. Even as takeout, the service was so friendly you’d think they were welcoming me home. Let’s just say, I’ll be back.

Perfect soul food spot, from the restaurant decor, staff and service. My husband and I live in the DMV and stopped by on our way home. We ordered fried chicken wings, catfish, salisbury steak, mash potatoes, greens, Hoppin’ John, macaroni and cheese, potato salad and ribs. We were pleased with everything, each item had its distinctive flavor, everything was well seasoned and prices were reasonable. This place deserves a visit!! Wishing the friendly staff and owners all the best. We’ll be back! S/N: it’s a cash only establishment.
