I had an excellent experience. The restaurant itself is quite attractive with Ethiopian artwork and cultural pieces places around. The food is tasty and reasonably priced. I also appreciate the plates, which are decorated with patterns and very pleasant to look at. My visit certainly made my day.

Wheelchair accessibility: I noticed that they have a mini lift for those who can't take the little landing steps to the restaurant, very nice feature.

We ate at Tana and experienced Ethiopian food for the very first time today with some very good friends of ours who are well versed with Ethiopian cuisine. Granted, they helped us make our ultimate dining choices, but they were quite similar to chat the waitress had suggested a few minutes before they had arrived (lol). But boy oh boy were we wowed by the results!! Now, we got a lot of different things, so I’m not going to speak to everything, just my absolute favorites, and I’ll use American descriptions - best vegetable dishes - fried lentil appetizer, green bean and carrot entree, cabbage entree. If you like vegetable dishes try Tana. You’ll be given Ethiopian bread with which to pick up your meat or vegetables, the bread serves as your utensils, or if you prefer you can use a fork or spoon, they’re easy!! The bread can be sort of filling! It doesn’t have much of a flavor of texture but serves its purpose. Oh and if you use up the bread they give you, they will gladly give you more!!If you’re looking for a new way to enjoy vegetables, or just a new cuisine entirely, try Tana. You won’t be disappointed. We we’re entirely delighted!!

We were looking for a fill-in for our favorite Ethiopian restaurant in Columbus when we moved to Pittsburgh. Tana filled it without disappointing! Great food and wonderful staff.

Milonica and I ate last evening at Tana, and it was just incredible! We haven't eaten at Tana before, and I'm a bit hesitant about Ethiopian restaurants as I've been to a number around the U.S. that miss the mark. Last night, I was back in Addis Ababa! The Combination Platter (both vegetarian and meat) was amazing. Every portion of wat was so flavorful, diverse, and fun. The injera was wonderful. The service was quick, even though the restaurant was nearly full -- it's obvious Tana has a loving and loyal fan-base. And our server was amazing. I turned my head once to enjoy a look at a nice family behind me and the server was at my elboy -- "can I do anything for you?" In all ways, as my Singporean friends would say, "just nice!' Yes, Tana is "just nice," meaning it could not have been nicer! We'll be back.

The beef sambusas and homemade cottage cheese appetizers were fantastic and promising. I was really excited for the main course after, but unfortunately the main of misir wot with injera desperately needed more spice. However, the portion size was great. The lone waitress seemed really stressed although there were only four couples dining.

Food was good! Might be the only European restaurant in Pittsburgh. We had the vegetarian sampler. I've had it before I always enjoy it.

Stopped in here tonight for dinner. Neat little place. Started with a St George Ethiopian beer, wasn't real cold but was tasty. Bought 2 vegetarian dishes and 2 beef dishes, all were good.Wheelchair accessibility: It's currently broken.

What a gem! It was a bit busy when i went and they seemed to be short staffed so it did take some time to get food. When we first entered the waitress told us it would be about a 30 min wait for food. She was very nice and continuously updated us on the status of our order. I ordered the veggie sampler and my friends got the beef and lamb. The waitress asked if it were okay for the food to be on one plate which is very considerate since some vegetarians don't like their foods to touch meat. The food was divine, everything was seasoned well and the portion of the veggies sampler (4 sides) was filling for $15.

They've cut way down on the menu. But the food is good. It's the only Ethiopian place in Pittsburgh that I know of. It's worth the hour-hour and 15 minute drive. And when I go, I usually bring friends.

Our family considers this our favorite place to eat. Authentic Ethiopian dishes always are filling and satisfying. Designed to be eaten with your hands, the dishes are never served hot. (no one wants to burn their hands and their mouth!) Some consider it things slow and drawn out, but that is the way Ethiopian food was meant to be eaten - over time in the company of friends or family with plenty of time to talk and relax. The atmosphere is just the right amount of relaxed while still not feeling overly foreign.Vegetarian options: The vegetarian options are some of the best. Not treated as an afterthought.
