This place is amazing! It is a pretty dense pretzel. I got the Buffalo chicken sandwich on a Thursday for $4.50. It was so worth it! Came with lettuce and tomato. I'm sure the service is great, a friend picked up my order. The place is nice and offers a lot of variety. It's good price and pretty good food.

I went this week like I have been doing weekly for years. Used the ATM in their shop like always. This time it stole my card info. I only use my debit card for ATM’s and I also haven’t used my debit card in almost 6 months. Immediately after leaving the pretzel shop, my bank called me to verify charges on my card. Whoever owns that ATM tried using my debit card within 5 minutes of me using the ATM. Thankfully my bank blocked it and reversed the charges. I called the pretzel shop and messaged them on Facebook. They don’t care and said it’s not their problem. So after 30 years of going to the pretzel shop, I’m done going since they don’t care. Also while I was in there the girls working were extremely rude talking about other employees and customers. Not really what you want representing your company. It’s a shame because my kids would be the 4th generation of our family to enjoy the pretzels. Not now! Their quality went downhill anyways.

Went here for the first time this past Saturday and it will definitely be somewhere I go more often. I love a good breakfast sandwich and it's even better when it's on a pretzel. It came out very quickly and was still warm when I got home. As a Philly native, these pretzels are great. It is worth noting that they are cash only, so make sure you bring at least a 5 when thinking about coming here. Also, it is on a main street with paid street parking only. The meters take quarters or card.

This is a great local spot in Southside that's been around forever. They bake fresh pretzels every day and you can smell the yeasty pretzels baking when you walk in. If you're in the mood for pretzels, this is where I recommend you go. They are cash only, but have an ATM on-site. It's all counter service, serving pretzels, pepperoni rolls, pretzel sandwiches, bakery items, a couple sandwiches, and specials each day. They occasionally have outdoor seating depending on the weather, but no indoor seating. The prices are very affordable, and the owners and staff are very friendly, this place feels like a yinzer hangout, popular with the older crowd. I also recommend The Pretzel Shop as an alternative to your traditional fast food restaurants if you want a quick bite (specifically the dozen bite-sized pretzels for around $1.75 and a pretzel sandwich of your choice for around $3 - $5). Taking one star off as you may get a pretzel that is more on the charred side (such as in my photo).

If you love pretzels, give this place a shot. Old School pretzel shop. Was delicious, filling affordable. Pretzels we well made without too much salt, have the right amount of pretzel flavor and right amount of chew.

Yummy soft pretzels! First time there I followed GPS and it took me down an alley. When approaching the door an employee was going into work and I asked her "do you really want customers coming in through the back door?" Yes the back entrance is open till 1p. Coming in this way you get to see the oven and them pulling fresh pretzels out of it.

The Pretzel Shop is a South Side staple and a must-visit for both locals and tourists. It's one of those places I walked past everyday for years and regrettably never tried until recently. These are some of the best, heartiest soft pretzels in Pittsburgh. What I enjoy even more are their warm sandwiches. They're so delicious and prices are very affordable - one of my favorite lunch spots in the area.

We made a special trip here as a result of its appearance on Cheap Eats. It wasn't bad, but I guess you have to manage your expectations. Reading a ton of Yelp reviews helped, but here's my synthesized version--it's super inexpensive to get food from here. Obviously that's a major plus. We got a ton of food for three people for less than $20. One of our party REALLY liked the pretzel because of the crust. If that's important to you and Auntie Annie's isn't your thing, you should try this. For the rest of us non-pretzel aficionados, the pretzels were fine. Nothing amazing or mouth watering. The pizza one was good, but you're still putting sauce and cheese on a pretzel so it's going to be a floppy mess when you try to eat it with your hands--which you have to do because this isn't an eat-in establishment. As others have said, it's best to know your order in advance. Even though there weren't many people in there when we got there, there were when we left (a span of maybe 7 minutes)--this place is hopping and they don't mess around or have a lot of patience for people who don't order quickly. It's also very small, so don't expect to hang around to eat there. Another note: it's street parking only, and if you park across the street from the place, good luck crossing it. There aren't crosswalks close by, so those with mobility challenges be forewarned. I assume this place will run forever on the local following, which is fine, but all of my people said it would be okay if we didn't return.

The Pretzel Shop in South Side tastes like my childhood. The pretzels are still baked in a wood fire oven in the back of the property in small batches and there is always a line of customers. Make sure to have cash. Great to take to the park for a snack, as there is no indoor dining.

Website says “Call Ahead for Catering” but nothing about needing to do that a full day in advance for a small pretzel bite tray.Would have liked to try them out…
