The cute market full of Italian foods. The ambiance is so relaxing and quaint. My grab and go lunches and dinner entrees for family when headed home. Love the dessert options. Its 100% a must check out!!

Legit Italian delights right here in Quakertown. The roasted pork, broccoli rabe and sharp provolone was delicious!

Here for a soccer game and explored this adorable Italian shop. Stocked up on desserts and sandwiches. The Ribeye cheesesteak is one of the best I’ve had!

I visited this bakery excited to try a variety of pastries and spent $46.63 on six items. Everything looked great—until my daughter bit into a cake pop and found green, fuzzy mold inside. That alone is unacceptable, but what followed was even worse.
I returned to the counter and, out of respect, waited until the line cleared so I wouldn’t discuss moldy food in front of other customers. When I calmly explained the issue, I made it clear I wasn’t there for a refund—I wanted to bring it to their attention and see how they would handle it.
Instead of addressing the situation professionally, the employee took the partially eaten cake pop and walked away without saying anything. When I followed, I found her whispering and making faces with another woman, who then identified herself as the owner.
When I explained that my daughter had just bitten into mold, the owner’s response was to pick apart the cake pop and question whether it was “actually mold” or just a sprinkle. It was clearly green with white fuzz. Rather than apologize, she doubled down on dismissing me.
She then unwrapped another cake pop, took a bite in front of me, and sarcastically asked, “Where is the mold?”—as if that proved anything about the one my child had just eaten. It was rude, unprofessional, and honestly shocking behavior from someone claiming to be the owner.
I also mentioned that the lemon cake I purchased had a strong refrigerator taste in the icing. Again, she dismissed it, insisting everything is “made fresh,” completely ignoring the actual concern. When I encouraged her to taste the icing herself, she deflected and continued to argue irrelevant points.
Throughout this interaction, both employees smirked and exchanged looks, clearly not taking the situation seriously. At no point was there a genuine apology or any effort to handle this like a professional business.
Eventually, the owner told the cashier to issue a refund. I reiterated that I hadn’t originally asked for one, but at that point, given the attitude and treatment, I wanted a full refund. Her response? Telling me I could never come back.
That was fine with me. After this experience, I wouldn’t return anyway. But telling a customer they’re banned for reporting moldy food says everything about how this business is run.
She even followed me toward the register demanding to see the piece my daughter spit out, as if this needed a full investigation instead of basic accountability. At that point, I declined further conversation and just took the refund.
The issue here isn’t just mold—it’s the complete lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic customer service. I approached this respectfully and privately, and was met with sarcasm, denial, and outright disrespect.
If you choose to spend your money here, just hope you don’t run into a problem—because this is how it will be handled.

Update:
In response to the owners response to this review:
I’d like to clarify one point and then leave this here.
All items I received were ordered through your staff and paid for at the time of purchase. You can verify this using the transaction from that day.
More importantly, the concern raised in my original review remains the same: my child bit into a cake pop that contained visible green and white mold. That is a food safety issue.
I returned to the store and brought it to your attention calmly and privately. My expectation was simply that it would be taken seriously and handled appropriately.
I’ve shared my experience factually and will leave it to others to form their own opinion

I’ve visited Mercatino Italiano in the past and have always loved their food, but today really confirmed how great they are. I picked up lunch for my company, and every employee loved it. The food was absolutely delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. On top of that, the owner is so kind and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. Highly recommend Mercatino Italiano if you’re looking for amazing food and great service!

This cheesesteak was incredible. Packed with great flavored meat. Didn’t expect this good of a cheesesteak this far up 476. Not to mention free espresso/coffee with any pastry order.

An amazing market reminiscent of those in Italy with all of the Italiano goods you crave. I get the Porchetta Muffuletta there. It’s criminally good. So good, I probably haven’t tried some of the other stuff which I’m sure is also awesome.

Awesome store and products. Great bakery! The only draw back is waiting to checkout takes forever. They answer the phone, leave the register and it takes eternity to checkout. The cheesecake is awesome. The blackout cake and something to buy unless you want something sugary as it was not very chocolatey. However it looked outstandingly chocolatey. It was however a disappointment. But the cheesecake will not disappoint and quite a few of the other items in the bakery.
