Excellent short ribs with spaetzle and mushrooms dish! Great easy-going environment, family-friendly, really good menu (lots of choices plus gluten-free available options). Fenced in parking lot behind the restaurant, off of Cherry Street.

Super fun bar because they give you free peanuts and let you drop the shells on the floor which I did with abandon. Great service and great food. I really liked the crab dip, might be the best I've had.

Very cozy, classy, tucked-away atmosphere. Free parking out back with cool, rear entrance. Mature, calm crowd. No wait and roomy dining area. However wobbly table and hard chair made for a bit uncomfortable seating. Prices moderate, excellent service. Absolute delicious, straight-forward food.

Maybe it's our fault for going to this restaurant on a show night, but we got there at 5:20pm and got our entrees at 6:50. We didn't get our salads until 6:46. Not that we were counting or anything, just very hungry and in a hurry. We watched the restaurant empty out while waiting for our food. I can understand entrees being delayed because the kitchen is swamped. Salads though? Makes no sense. Disappointing overall. I like the peanut rice though. A lot.

I have eaten here in the past and have had delicious food however the last 2 times I have eaten here the food was ok at best. My filet steak medallions were overcooked to burnt on my last visit. And the previous visit my ny strip steak was tough and again over cooked.

I love throwing the peanut shells on the ground. From what I understand it also helps to treat the wood floor, so I would consider that a win-win. Food was great. Staff was a little busy but as attentive as they could be for being busy.

The Peanut Bar is a local gem that blends history, hospitality, and great food. The atmosphere is lively, the walls tell stories, and yes — the peanuts on the floor add to the charm! The menu is diverse, the drinks are strong, and the service made me feel right at home. Definitely a must-visit in Reading.

This place was great! My sister and I were visiting for an event at Santander arena, we walked here and it was a great meal. We had the crab dip, cheese balls, and chocolate pretzel dessert! Seriously everything was delicious and the staff was so accommodating and friendly even though they were really busy! A must try!

It is very sad how far downhill this establishment has gone. Food is 3 class, the place is way understaffed meaning bad service, Micheal has become a grumpy old man. Very sad.

We had dinner at the Peanut Bar after visiting the new Toytopia exhibit at the Reading Public Museum. Our waitress was amazing and incredibly thoughtful with our toddler. The food was delicious- plenty of choices for meat lovers, vegetarians, and vegans. The kids menu also had several fun options for little ones. They have an excellent drink menu, with interesting cocktails and many beer options. We had a great experience and hope to go back the next time we’re in Reading!

We visited Reading for the Berks Jazz Fest and came here for dinner before the show.
Very cool place, vintage photos of Reading playing on screens threw out the dining area. Old photos on the walls
including some Penske racing shots.
Good food, good drinks and decent prices.
I will definitely return!
