When we first walked in it took a few minutes before someone sat us at a table, this was fine it being during lunch and all, but the woman who sat us didn’t seem friendly at all almost like she hated her life and we were an inconvenience to her. So when the waiter came up he was polite and well spoken took our orders and brought us our drinks, he did his job well and did his best to make us feel welcome. My girlfriend ordered the shrimp tacos when they came out there was more garnish and grapefruit then shrimp and the shrimp wasn’t sautéed like it was described. I ordered the smokehouse burger and sweet potato tots, when they came out the tots were soggy and cold and the burger wasn’t medium but more like medium rare and very very greasy, pretty much swimming in grease. We ate what we could and settled our tab but I don’t think we’ll be trying the taproom again if we ever go back to the lodge.

This is a perfect lunch or dinner spot before or after outside activities. A cozy spot for refreshing food. The pizza appetizer is DELIGHTFUL and the cocktails are different, new, and tasteful. Thank you to Jeff, the General Manager who introduced himself to us. Highly recommend 10/10!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An American Fairytale Castle in the Poconos! Skytop Lodge is not just a resort; it's a breathtaking escape into a different era. From the moment you approach the main lodge, you are transported. It looks exactly like a fairytale castle or a grand, private hunting chateau has popped up in the Pennsylvania mountains! The architecture is absolutely magnificent. The rough-hewn stone exterior, beautifully contrasted with the vibrant red ivy in the fall (as seen in my photos), evokes a powerful sense of history. The grand stone facade, rooted in the Dutch Colonial Revival style of the 1920s, instantly reminded me of a European castle—it truly is a stunning landmark. The interiors are just as impressive. The grand lobbies, with their beautiful wood paneling, towering arched windows, and cozy fireplaces, have the warm, elegant feel of an exclusive old-world club. Sunlight streaming through those enormous windows is a sight you have to see in person! Opened in 1928, this Historic Hotel of America sits on 5,500 acres of meticulously designed grounds—planned by the legendary Olmsted Brothers. Whether you are enjoying a round on the historic golf course, relaxing by the enormous fireplace, or exploring the extensive acreage, Skytop offers an atmosphere of timeless tradition and unmatched beauty. If you are looking for a getaway where elegance, history, and natural grandeur meet, Skytop Lodge is an absolute must-visit. It completely blew my mind and is a true gem of the Poconos!

⸻ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Perfect Team-Building Experience at Skytop Lodge Our company, The Shauger Group, recently held our first-ever overnight team-building retreat at Skytop Lodge, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. For me, this trip was deeply meaningful — the first time I visited Skytop was in 1999 with my son, Donnie, when he was just five years old. My wife, Lisa, surprised us with a father-and-son weekend after a long winter season. It was a special place for us then — and returning 26 years later to see Donnie, now our Vice President of Operations, lead our entire team here was truly full circle. From the moment we arrived, the Skytop staff made us feel like family — kind, professional, and always ready to help. The food was outstanding, the rooms immaculate, and the mountain views breathtaking. Our team enjoyed everything from hiking and team-building activities to an unforgettable campfire under the stars, complete with s’mores, karaoke, and laughter that brought everyone closer together. We celebrated birthdays, shared stories, and participated in a spirited scavenger hunt the next morning — and through it all, we grew stronger as a team and as a family. Skytop Lodge is more than just a resort — it’s a place that fosters connection, gratitude, and growth. Whether you’re planning a corporate retreat, family getaway, or simply looking for a place to relax and recharge, I can’t recommend it enough. We’ll never forget our time there and look forward to returning for years to come. — Donald R. Shauger Sr. Executive Vice President, The Shauger Group, Inc

The Skytop Taproom was a solid 4 stars, but our server, Anastasia was a 5 all the way. Given the lack of reviews and less than stellar ones at that, we stuck with items that we hoped would be decent. The flatbread pizza was really good and the added mushrooms were plentiful and an interesting mix. We liked it ! Then we shared the smokey brown cajun chicken wings. These were good as well! A interesting sticky smokey blend of spices that weren't too hot. So, give the Skytop Taproom a go.We were certainly glad we did!

If You Like Your Food Dry, Burnt, and Questionably Old — This Is the Place for You

The Tap Room at Skytop was, without exaggeration, one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. It felt less like a restaurant meal and more like punishment.

The chicken wings were bone-dry and flavorless — like they’d been sitting under a heat lamp since last weekend. The salmon? A tiny, shriveled sliver of fish so overcooked and dried out it could’ve passed for jerky. And the burgers? Disgusting. Cooked on a greasy, unclean grill, with a burnt, foul-smelling patty that tasted like it had absorbed every charred scrap from a thousand bad meals before it.

Everything tasted like stale leftovers reheated without an ounce of care or basic culinary decency. Absolutely no seasoning, no quality, no pride — just a slapdash mess of old, dead food.

Shame on whoever let this out of the kitchen. Avoid this place at all costs unless you’re nostalgic for the taste of regret and burnt mystery meat.

We had a great time here. The bartenders were invented with the drinks and friendly.

Paper thin walls, no locker room for the pool. Not worth the price at all

We shared the taste of PA appetizer and the wings. The blue cheese with the wings was fresh and tasty. The taste of PA came with great beer cheese, juicy and tasty kielbasa, soft pretzels, and nicely fried pirogies. The waiter seemed new but nice and got our order correct.

Chicken wings are terrible. I ordered buffalo wings. They seemed to be boiled and buffalo sauce was spread on top. Tasted terrible with these super fat chicken wings. They should let people know that the wings are boiled not fried.

A little pricey, but great place for lunch (or dinner).

I got one of the burgers (the smokehouse) but replaced the burger with grilled chicken breast and I think, at the risk of sounding over dramatic, that it was one of the best grilled chicken sandwiches I've ever had. The chicken was clearly freshly cooked and juicy, and the BBQ sauce seemed better than from a bottle.

Our service was great and I have no complaints! We sat outside so I can't speak to the ambiance inside.

Contrary to other reviews, our service was excellent. Sean, our waiter, made us feel welcome and was attentive, even wishing us a happy anniversary. The Red Dragon burger and the Taproom Dip were yummy. Casual and cozy atmosphere. We would definitely visit here again.

We were seated by hostess.it took 15 minutes for a waiter to acknowledge us . When he finally came to us he simply said what would you like. At that point we should have left. My wife’s drink was awful - Hardly any alcohol and for the prices charged - it was embarrassing. Our lunch was not very good. We would have said something if we could find our waiter. Bus people cleared our table after we were done. About 10 minutes later the waiter dropped our check on the table and said absolutely nothing. I think management should replace this waiter - he has no personality or knowledge of waitering. We spent 75 dollars on a lunch that was an awful experience.
