Service was amazing! Anna was on point holding down multiple tables. The food was good except for a couple of dishes. The steak came out cold and with only two fingerling potatoes for over $70. The apps were good, but way too pricey for how many pieces came out. The carrot app was one that way over priced for what you got.

I have stayed at Hotel State College several times now, and one of the highlights of every visit is dining at Allen Street Grill. This most recent experience was, without question, one of the finest restaurant experiences I have ever had.
Our server, Rachel, was absolutely exceptional. As someone who also works in the restaurant industry, I tend to pay close attention to service standards and can admittedly be fairly critical. Rachel exceeded every expectation. From the moment she introduced herself, she guided the evening with professionalism, confidence, and genuine passion. She thoughtfully highlighted the evening’s featured items, informed us of unavailable dishes, and demonstrated an impressive depth of knowledge about both the food and beverage program.
After each cocktail order, she provided detailed descriptions of the drinks, explaining flavor profiles, preparation, and even thoughtful pairing suggestions. Her ability to curate the experience made the evening feel elevated and seamless. The pacing of the meal was impeccable, allowing each course to be fully enjoyed without ever feeling rushed or delayed.
When discussing the menu, Rachel’s descriptions went far beyond standard recitations. She spoke about the inspiration behind the dishes, unique ingredients guests may not have recognized, and the way the flavors were designed to complement one another. Her enthusiasm and passion genuinely enhanced the dining experience and made every selection feel exciting.
I ordered the halibut and asked Rachel to recommend a wine pairing after learning she was developing a deeper interest in wine. She paired the dish with a beautifully balanced Chardonnay that was both buttery and subtly oaked — an exceptional recommendation that complemented the fish perfectly.
Chef Alex also came out during the evening to personally ask about our experience, which further demonstrated the level of care and hospitality that defines Allen Street Grill. The menu itself is thoughtfully crafted, and Chef Alex’s talent is evident in every aspect of the experience, from the stunning presentation of each dish to the precision and balance of the flavors.
What stood out most throughout the evening was the intentionality and passion behind every detail. Allen Street Grill delivers not only remarkable cuisine, but a truly memorable dining experience. It is, without a doubt, one of the best restaurant experiences I have ever had.

Allen Street Grille is the go to spot for fine dining in downtown State College. We always have attentive, engaging service and enjoy the expertly prepared food. Chad is an excellent waiter. I highly recommend Allen Street Grille.

Went with my friend and her family to celebrate graduation and it was probably the best sit-down restaurant experience i’ve had. Food was fantastic, atmosphere was super homey and comfy, our waitress Mia was charismatic and knowledgeable as well

Naomi was absolutely amazing! From the moment we walked in, she made us feel welcomed and taken care of. Her service was attentive without being overbearing, and she had such a positive, upbeat attitude the entire time. She made great recommendations and checked in at all the right moments. You can tell she genuinely cares about her guests’ experience
Outstanding all around.

Service in both the bar and the restaurant was excellent. The appetizers we ordered - the broiled oysters and the honey labneh carrots were both excellent -- beautifully presented as well. The veal bolognese was also excellent with a true bolognese -- a hint of spice and tender veal. The venison dish was pricey and disappointing. While it tasted good, the asparagus and the sauce were cold and the meat itself was overcooked on three of the chops. (Was supposed to be rare.) I did notify our server but also indicated that the dish tasted good though clearly something was up in the kitchen given the temperature of the dish. Would not order the venison again - that was the only disappointing element of an otherwise good dining experience.
Amazing food, great atmosphere and service. I would also like to add that Alex Singh is the best chef in town! I have known him prior to Allen Street Grill and he is fantastic. I’ve never met such a phenomenal chef, eating Alex’s food at The American Ale House and now, Allen Street Grill. He is personable, to the point and very consistent with everything that he does. The food is made properly, concise and absolutely delicious. He deserves nothing but the best with his career, as there isn’t a better chef in town (as I have said).

If you can dine in only one restaurant in State College, make it the Allen Street Grill. And if you can dine in two or three, skip the others and enjoy all your dinners at Allen Street. We did so again last night with friends and could not have been more pleased. A special shoutout to Becky and Chad, whose combination of hospitality, service, warmth, and good humor added immeasurably to the evening. I don't get to Allen Street as often as I'd like. But when I do, I'm always glad I came.

This is the best restaurant in State College. With a frequently updated menu containing delicious and interesting selections. The ambiance is an engaging balance of old school American class and European elan. The congenial Staff is knowledgeable and efficient and the bar has a wonderful selection of tasty cocktails and a fine wine selection. Located in the heart of the town with the traditional main entrance to the University across the street, patrons have a front row seat to life in the quintessential college town.
Amazing wine class as always from Chris Peters. I enjoyed everything I tried. I also had the prawns and veal bolognese which were delicious.
Waiter was knowledgeable and attentive. Menu had a nice variety and prices were reasonable. We were able to enjoy dinner and not be rushed. One of the nicer restaurants at state college and it's become a mainstay when we visit our daughter. One minor gripe when you ask for bread the waiter puts one piece of bread on everyone's plate instead of bringing a basket of bread for the table, therefore if you want another roll you have to ask the waiter for another. Not sure why they have this policy but it's annoying nonetheless. Not enough to stop us from returning
Super lovely. The food was great and the other patrons at the bar when we got a glass of wine before our reservation were so nice and friendly! They even recommended us the broiled oysters (which were fantastic). It was intimate and romantic! The perfect noise level to feel like a private conversation. We sat in the windows and it was gorgeous. I got the fish and my boyfriend got the steak and both were fantastic. The apps (broiled oysters and tiger prawns) were great as well. Our server was lovely, though I feel bad I did not catch her name! The hostess and bartenders were very kind and patient too (and very helpful with wine selection). They have a fantastic and unique wine selection (perfect for wine lovers). The perfect birthday date for my boyfriend! We cannot wait to go back
