“Every time I am in the area this is where I stop. The food is great, the staff is Absolutely Amazing. It was a slow night and I got to hang out and get to know everyone and their story. Definitely a highlight of my trip. And they do so much for the local community. The Sportsman club, the dollars pinned to the ceiling for the children's hospital, this place is so much more than just a local grill. Definitely worth a Saturday drive just for a burger.”
“Admittedly I wasn't sure what to expect with the new ownership, but we were very pleasantly surprised. The food is exceptional for "bar food"; the fried fish, hot sausage, and French fries are my current favorites. The owner and staff are very hospitable and welcoming. The food rivals (similar) restaurants in downtown Pittsburgh. No joke. Food went from a 2 to a 10. We will back for sure!”
“Typical chain restaurant when it comes to food. Very clean, helpful and respectful staff. Gave four stars simply because for the food itself. It is consistent as fast food tends to ”
“I've only had take out here but some solid pie even in a small town. Dough is good which is often overlooked when it comes to other pizza joints. I do very much appreciate the poormans pies as it gives you a budget friendly option. Specialty pizzas are where it's at though!”

“Spent 30 minutes figuring out where to eat around here & very pleased we gave this biz a try. Impressive quality, amount of food, prices & service. Not one complaint or issue with our 7 meals.”
“This great place to eat is tucked away in beautiful downtown West Hickory. You must check this place out! Remodeled interior and great food and daily specials. They are even open for breakfast 7 days a week. I recommend the omelets, the breakfast sandwiches, large juicy homemade fresh burgers, homemade fries, the wraps, the big salads, taco pizza and taco salad on Mondays, the fish on Friday’s and the clams are some of my favorites. Staff is very friendly. Prices are reasonable too.”
“I like visiting restaurants where you can see community happening. I was staying with a friend for the weekend and I was told this is where we have to go after church. The charm of the small town eatery is present before you even step through the door. I saw customers holding the door for one another, greeting one another, teasing as they entered the sanctuary after their church service on a Sunday afternoon. It was obvious people didn't just eat here, they interacted on a personal level. I generally skip the chains when traveling and this is why. The food was good, the prices were fair, the service was friendly, but I love seeing community on a deeper level. The waitresses knew their regulars, treated them more like family than customers but were quick to welcome an out of towner as well. If I'm ever in the area again I will definitely be returning to Coal Oil Johnny's. If I could pack a restaurant up and take it with me I would, but then Pleasantville would be a little less pleasant. This place is a must for anyone that appreciates the spirit of a small town.”
“First time there and new to the area. Clean, food was great, the ranch is bomb, and the service was really good too. Fella at the counter was nice and very polite on the phone. All the staff was working on orders, they seemed busy, and everything was still great and timely. Definitely coming back again.Kid-friendliness: 4 kids and everyone liked the pizza, bread sticks, and wings.”
“Great food and awesome staff! Doesn't get much better for northern clarion county.Wheelchair accessibility: All but a rear section of dining room is 100% wheel chair friendly. The front door is ground level, making entering no problem at all!”
“So I'm a born and raised jersey girl ive been coming up since the 80's. I just moved up here permanently 6 months ago. I don't stop in much but I love the bartender Danielle. She makes you feel at home. The food is always good:) I have no complaints:) thank you and keep up the good work:)”
“Best breakfast around! The owners and staff are great. Very laid back small town vibe. A great place to stop for breakfast or lunch, and don't forget to try the homemade pies for dessert!”
