“Huh... The negative reviews for here surprise me. I've been getting take out and delivery from here for over ten years and although the food quality varies at times I feel it's always above average for taste. I really like the food from here and I recently took a few friends here and they really enjoyed the Lo Mein. I don't get anything fancy though. Usually just egg rolls or shrimp rolls, pork fried rice, Sweet and sour chicken etc. Still, I never got a bad meal here and service was always good if not exceptional and the prices are average for this type of food. A very good value and a good meal, so a solid 4 stars from me.”

“My family used to call this bakery “The Crabby Woman Bakery” back in the 1980s. That’s because at least one the regular women who worked behind the counter was unusually crabby. I used to ask my parents to pick up a birthday cake that I had ordered ( or for whatever occasion) and I would cook the dinner for my extended family. My dad would arrive with the cake, but he always seemed a little unhappy. One day, I asked him why. He told me “whenever you send me to that bakery, I always tell the woman behind the counter that I am picking up a cake that my daughter ordered. I give the woman your last name…..she becomes irritated and asks “I need to know the size of the cake and the cake and icing flavors”. When he admitted that the only thing he knew was the last name, the woman would become very annoyed. This should be a short pit stop always turned into a very long process. The bakery woman would always figure out which cake was mine but it took a lot of time and many questions. Eventually, my dad changed the bakery name to “The Crabby Woman Bakery” and that’s what my family ( and friends) called it for the Emanuel years. The baked goods are all AWESOME. Especially the sour cream cookies and strawberr6 shortcake!”

An all vegan joint with an expansive menu available at all times of the day, including a full page of delicious options for breakfast, this place is amazing. “First time at Blk Shp in Swedesboro. Went on a Friday at 2pm, had the Blk Shp side of the restaurant all to ourselves. Walk into a cozy lit fire place, great music, comfy chairs and wonderful server, Madison. Could not have asked for anything else, perfect meal, atmosphere, drinks, we will be back. We ordered so much food, expecting small portions but we're pleasantly surprised at the large portions for a tapas bar. Each dish was yummy and because we ordered so much food there was plenty to take home. Desert (bread pudding) was out of this world. Madison made sure we were well taken care of and needed for nothing. Cant wait to go back. Cocktails were also very good, the selection of bourbon made it hard to pick . “A great place. Been open many years. Recently on TV for their Anniversary. Sometimes crowded but they are quick and move fast. You can get breakfast sandwiches all day which is a plus. Coffee very good, another plus. Only takes cash, no big deal to me. Grew up in South Philly and local neighborhood places the same. Got scrapple, egg & cheese, bacon, egg & cheese, peppers , egg & cheese. All outstanding. Owner Bruce and his wife working up front, working, greeting and monitoring everything.”

The homemade pickled Cucumbers that came with my order was delicious. The staff is friendly and service was fast. A must try if you’re in the area stop in and give them a shot.
