“No better old school diner in Pittsburgh than Pamela’s. One of my favorite “tourists” places to stop at every now and then. Love it there and the service has been great every time I have gone. Been there by myself, with a friend and with a large party and have enjoyed it just as much!“

“This place was great! We were there to visit Pitt and most of the food in the area is quick service food that students like. This was one of the only restaurant choices for breakfast. Nothing fancy -typical diner food. Food was really good and service was super friendly. I liked how the servers all worked together so someone was always checking on you. Potatoes, pancakes, waffles and coffee were all wonderful. It was walkable to our hotel and the university so I don't know what parking would be like if you tried to drive. Price was good. Highly recommend.“

“Amazing place to take the kids. Feel as though everyone, including guests, becomes family as soon as you walk in the door. Easily able to start convo with everyone inside or stay to yourself if you'd like. I always go for the BIG Johnys breakfast with s french toast sub. Don't forget you can add onion and pepper to your home fry, & the home fry are best in the city. Parking can be tight during a rush. There's also side walk street parking.Parking: Parking can be tight during a rush. There's also side walk street parking.Kid-friendliness: Amazing place to take the kids. “I'm happy this Caffe Mona is here in the strip, because it's got a great vibe that's relaxed (no tvs, low music), and great fresh food. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the savory crepe. I will be going back for sure.Only (small) complaint is that my plate had like 8 chips which felt like an afterthought and not a side.If you've never been, it can be a surprise to see a menu that's basically just crepes (sweet or savory) and omelettes. It seems like they have a burger, but it's not the main thing.“

“For a good diner experience this is hard to beat in the neighborhood. Excellent prices, colorful locals, great portions of food with taste to match. Parking is typical of this corner of the South Side, but worth it. Booths and counter seating, so if you have more than 4 in your party it could get a little cramped, but go figure. If you want to get a taste of Pittsburgh, this is a solid spend of the dime.“

“Today, my husband and I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant for brunch. We were thoroughly impressed with the exceptional customer service and high-quality food. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the meat lovers omelette, while I was not particularly fond of the pancakes, but the waffles were absolutely delicious.“

“I have been coming here since they opened about 8 years ago. It instantly became my favorite place. It’s a Lawrenceville staple now. When people ask me what my favorite restaurant is I say “well it’s actually a brunch place, but Geppetto Cafe! Trust me!” Great atmosphere, food, and people. There are few places I’m a regular, and this is one of them. Their iced black coffee is my all-time favorite too. We just had our engagement party here, and they were so flexible and accommodating. It was really special, and many of our guests said “you WOULD have your engagement party at Geppetto”. They loved it. Everyone thought it was super cute and that the crepes were delicious. Highest recommendation for brunch, coffee, or a special occasion!“

“Food and quantity was good. Place was packed at 11. Have to wait for some time to be seated. Think pancakes, sausage was nice and spicy, waffles were really good. Hot chocolate was not good and too sugary ended up dumping. The service was courteous. Parking if you get the spot behind it's good. Otherwise street parking only.“

“We had the BEST waitress that we’ve had in a long time. She was fun, friendly, helpful and made our breakfast better than we could have imagined. It was our first time here and Kathy was great! As was the food…my omelette was so amazing! We will be back hopefully a day Kathy is waiting tables and not in the kitchen since she is the reason (and that omelette) that we wil be back soon.“

“What a wonderful place! The service was great. The food was amazing! We had lunch. My burger was delicious but the potato pancakes side stole the show. I also tried some of my Aunt's quesadilla and it was wonderful too. Will go back many times in the future. Highly recommend.“
“Had a morning appointment on Liberty Ave. & Stopped in for breakfast after. Saw the special for 2 eggs, sausage, hash browns & toast for under $7 & had to stop in. Quite the neighborhood, yinzer, diner feel. Lil small but accommodating seating. Cozy. The wait staff was quick, efficient & personable. Rocky was cooking away & catching up with some Steeler news with the locals. Stools are a lil shorter than your usual ones which is accommodating for shorter folks. I sat at the bar & deliciously watched my food sizzle, simmer, & cook to perfection. Couple of cuppas of coffee & a hearty breakfast had me ready for the day. Everything you needed was at your bars & tables (hand sanitizer, salt, pepper, Heinz ketchup, hot sauce, sugar creamer, grape jelly). The folks were fine with chatting up about anything local & interesting, others were having a quiet breakfast scrolling through their phone feed. The menu was short and to the point. A few specials on the front, a la carte as well. Everything was reasonably and affordably priced. Tables were neat and tidy. There was also a small collection of movies & music for sale too. Couple of classics in VHS, DVD, CDs & Casset tapes.Parking: Park in front for standard fare. Catch a side street spot if you're lucky.“

“Must have passed by this place a thousand times. Neighbors told us that they heard it was really good so we made a point to stop in. Glad we did. This is the kind of neighborhood diner we miss. It's open for breakfasts and lunches only; it's clearly run by a family and friends; it focuses on what they can produce; and the portions are huge for the prices you pay!We went in for lunch so we got the spicy chicken wrap and the trio salads. Neither were finished and came home in a doggie bag. The wrap does not come with any sides, although you can order them separately, I did not. Good thing I did not since I could not finish the wrap. "Spice" was provided by the banana peppers and the pepper jack cheese, so if you are a real chili-head, this will not impress you. I asked for a hot sauce and was offered Frank's Hot and also saw some Tabasco laying around. The wrap itself was a 12 inch tortilla and this was generously stuffed! The trio salad was three huge mounds of chicken, tuna and egg salads along with slices of tomatoes, red onions, cucumbers, pickles, lettuce, and green peppers. Enough for three meals! The place was busy and many of the people we saw were regulars. Staff was clearly family and there was a lot of kidding around - which did not mean that they were not professional - they took care of everything as they should. The place is cash only, so bring real money. Prices are moderate, and even inexpensive when you consider how much food they give you. They have two menus: A lunch and a breakfast one. Both are very large. While we had lunch, we noticed many of the other tables were eating breakfast. Those offerings looked good so we will probably make a point of coming back some day to try some of those as well.“

“This is a quaint little diner with FANTASTIC food. Just writing this makes my mouth water. The Bountiful Breakfast is my go to. You get eggs, potato and meat with toast. Hard scrambled eggs, home fries, spicy sausage, Italian toast and coffee. I can’t describe to how hungry this writing has made me. The owner and staff are attentive and friendly. Even if you’re not in the area I’d tell you to stop in and give it a try. You won’t be sorry!“

“Best food, best service, awesome vibe. My new favorite breakfast place. Picky teenager approved also!*Have to edit* for some reason it didn’t have an option for the eggs Benedict on the reviews but it should be!!! Best traditional eggs Benedict I’ve ever had!!!“

“Overall good service but with a mishap for my friend and long wait time. I came with a few girlfriends for brunch. The meal that I ordered (pancake, potatoes and sausage) was great. However we all waited at least 40 mins to get our meals. Not only that the waiter messed up one of my friend's order and gave her the wrong food! But they did apologize and gave her a gift card. I would come back for the food but not during peak hours.“

“JT's is the real deal. A proper neighborhood diner with tons of charm. Last weekend I took my sister there for lunch on Saturday. I had the fried bologna sandwich that also had Islam's Chip Chopped Ham on it. It was insaneley good, with fresh grilled banna peppers and melted cheese. It was such a supremely Pittsburgh sandwich that the fries/coleslaw brothers would have blushed. I also had a bowl of the lentil soup, which was so flavorful it was definitely homemade. Lunch was so good, I went back with a friend for breakfast the next day and had a mixed grill breakfast dish with spicey sausage. It was amazing. And we shared some potato pancakes that were veryy tasty with excellent soft in the middle texture. This is a must stop when you're in Brentwood.“

“Nice little out of the way dinner. I stopped in for a good bacon burger with fries and enjoyed the company. Prices were great and so was the food. Definitely recommend for someone who wants that country experience. It's across from the old gun runner“

“While they’ve been in Upper St. Clair for a while, and as a chain, have six outposts now, we’ve never been to one of these locations, so we drove in on a weekday. At first, we were not even sure it was open as there were no cars in the parking lot! The lights were on though, so we parked and walked in. Turns out that they only open at 8 AM and we got there at 8:02, so we were the first ones there. I find that somewhat strange for a breakfast and lunch place, as I would have expected to have opened earlier, but what do I know? The menu is quite comprehensive with lots of options and variety of breakfast and brunch offerings. Check out both sides of the menu! On the coffee side, they offer one coffee, but do have an espresso machine so you can get all kinds of espresso drinks, if you so desire. We tried their regular coffee and it come in a small 4 Ounce mug – which they did refill upon request. For our first time, we selected the Breakfast Magic waffle, and the Country Mile. The waffle comes with green onions, bacon crumbles, and cheddar cheese crumbles and an egg on top. The menu states the batter also contains the green onions, bacon and cheese, but we did not detect them. A plop of sour cream accompanies this. The waffle was fluffy enough, but we felt it was pretty ordinary in flavor. The Country mile is a mushroom cheese omelet folded on top of a sausage patty which is then placed between two slices of Italian bread. It is supposed to have a spicy Mayo as well. What we got tasted like Russian dressing. Ordinarily, it comes with a side of potato chips, but we asked for a swap to their home fries, which they did – for an upcharge. Unfortunately, the potatoes were super salty! I took a closeup picture of the and attached it, you can see the salt crystals!I gave this place a four-star rating because the food was decent – although super salty – and the selection is large. Getting in and out of their parking lot in the morning can only be done from one direction which is a hassle. The staff was incredibly nice (which increased the rating!) but overall, it was just OK…“

“Kid-friendliness: Definitely kid-friendly. There is a dedicated kids menu with crayons and activities. The food selections are fairly good. Most of them involve eggs, understandably, but if your child has egg allergies they're limited to pancakes or a waffle.“
