⚠️ PLEASE READ & SHARE – THIS COULD SAVE A LIFE ⚠️
I never thought a night out would end with me in the hospital fighting for my life. But that’s exactly what happened this weekend after dining at Pearl Sushi Bar inside Mohegan Sun, Wilkes-Barre, PA.
I made it very clear to the waitress not once, not twice, but THREE times that I’m severely allergic to shrimp. I told her this before placing my order because I was being extra careful. I even chose a different dish just to avoid any risk.
But she didn’t take it seriously.
She ignored my warning and did not prioritize the fact that I have a life-threatening allergy. The restaurant clearly doesn’t follow basic safety protocols — they cross-contaminate ingredients, using the same tools and surfaces for different meals, even when customers have allergies. That is dangerous. That is negligent.
As soon as I left the casino, I started feeling intense stomach pain. The security cameras can even show me walking out holding my stomach in agony. It got so bad I had to be rushed to the hospital. I was in serious condition. It could have been worse. I could have died.
I’m sharing this because someone else might not be as lucky.

Not the greatest sushi, one of the spicy rolls was just mushy
We used to LOVE this place, pre COVID, we went every week on a Friday or Saturday... excellent food , service, atmosphere...after COVID when they reopened, absolutely terrible....dirty, fewer staff{maybe 2 total}, smaller drinks {martini glasses} longer wait times...tonight 1 male and female running the place, and they DID AN AWESOME JOB, but the amount of patrons we watch walk up and walk away is staggering, since the owners are not staffing the establishment with more workers.....so anyway tonight we , my wife and I, who have been there more than 50 times over the last 4 or 5 years...are now never going back...again the martini drink glasses much smaller for the 13 dollar a piece, that's ridiculous....we switched to a beer and a wine....food was still ok. BUT we ordered a to go for our college son who was working at Fire and Ice, a excellent local establishment that we also frequent often....anyway we ordered him a Hibachi Shrimp dinner and an California Roll to go...well stupid on my part, I guess I should have checked the bag when it was presented to us with our bill, but I didn't think it WOULDN'T be missing, our son just came home from Fire and Ice and said that the California Roll was not in the containers.... absolutely disgusted with this place, time for owners to step it up and start looking how to improve their business at the casino....we won't be back, we will stick with Rustic Kitchen or Ruth Chris when we are at the casino....

Sadly, I didn’t notice how dirty the Bar back/Food cooler was before I ordered. The food was mediocre.

This place blows. It used to be good but the sushi is not fresh, it’s dirty, the bar tender had to help the waitress and the casino is FULL of “creatures”.

Typical American-Japanese fare with solid sushi and hibachi items. Do go expecting anything ground breaking or authentic.
or go to sushi place of all time. amazing sushi, noodle bowls and crab salad.
Came here last night with my husband before seeing the Red Not Chili Peppers and let me tell you... The food was FANTASTIC!! We had 2 sushi rolls. One was sweet potato and I can't remember the name of the other one but it was raw salmon and avocado. We each had their garden salad, broth and I ordered a chicken hibachi... We finished with a Japanese dessert ... It was a mango and strawberry dough filled with ice cream and it was DELISH!Our waitress was super nice too.We are definitely coming back
Next trip to the casino, plan on stopping at Pearl for some excellent sushi. We started with cocktails - there is an extensive martini menu but we opted for Bloody Marys. It was a mix, but quite good. The mixed salad with ginger dressing was crisp and fresh. Then the sushi... we ordered rolls including shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, california, and lobster salad. Each was delicious but the lobster salad was the hero of the plate. Being a slow night (Monday), the sushi chef had some time on his hands and created and amazing garnish of a nesting bird. I first thought it was plastic but after looking closely, found it was a carrot! Totally impressed
