“Skipped breakfast so I was halfway looking for a brunchy option when I stumbled into El Tikal. With a quality lunch special section, plus your everyday Mexican favorites and a great variety of meat, seafood and veggie dishes, I had a hard time deciding. I'm usually a combo order kind of guy, but I had to throw together my own little lunch variety pack, add Santa Fe (breakfast) burrito. Plantains always hit for me, but these were extra caramelized and gooey so I had to portion them out between the beginning and end of the meal. The mole sauce on the chili relleno was smokey and not as spicy, but really well-balanced. The tamale with red sauce seemed less flavorful than the other dishes, but I'm no tamale expert and I've been hanging out with a lot of Italians recently. The Santa Fe burrito was out of this world: the eggs, nice and crumbly with tons of seasoning and flavor, the cheese-covered chorizo oozing into each bite. I need this again, and I'm sure there's so many other incredible things on the menu to explore, but this is truly a hearty and unique item worth coming back for.”

“We're on board with, and on record as saying to all our friends that, MVD is our favorite spot. But since we like trying new places too, we had to come back for the first time in over a year. It's not just the variety of tapas options, or the incredible wine selection, or the impeccable hospitality that will keep you coming back; it's the culinary journey rarely taken where the food transports you and you just sit back speechless thinking, “that was IT, where has this been?” You'll leave completely stuffed, and they'll be drinks… lots of drinks; but the concoctions are adventurous and more than worth trying a few of, and that's before you get to the wine list. They know their stuff; they travel the world to find inspiration for their own curated menu, but bring lesser-known varietals to the forefront that really challenge your palate and leave you needing to speak directly to the associate at the wine and spirits store, in the best way possible. If you have an unoaked chardonnay available, I immediately like you! You don't have to wait long once you order for those tasty shareable plates to come firing out; they're quick, efficient but also know how to help you pace your meal. Funny thing about this meal (that we shared with another couple we go touring with) is that it turned into a Catholic-guided, Lent-abiding seafood extravaganza, which was not necessarily our goal on approach. I love when a place really surprises you with things you wouldn't typically think to pair together or even order, and they become some of your favorite things altogether. Case in point, the escargot; most escargot I've ever had was rubbery, soaked in butter and masked with garlic. None of that was going on here, and they even did the work for you with the shells. Anything fried (empanadas, yuca fries, oysters, seabass tacos) had a very even, full but thin breading. Not a trace of residual oil, nothing heavy about it and still the right temp inside to not blast the filling. I really enjoyed the oysters, and the pickled radish and shallot would be good as an accompaniment for ANYTHING. The chimichurri is spot on, and anytime it appears on the menu, which it does several times, you should get those items. The butter sauce with a camarones was drinkable, the empanadas never disappoint, and the almond tart with wine-poached pears for dessert was literal perfection. Overall, our favorite drink was the Holy Smokes and they have a team-oriented approach to presenting dishes table side. Fun and friendly, the staff is knowledgeable, patient and has great personal recommendations, all with legit culinary knowledge. Go…like, now!”

“I've heard great things about this food truck and it's conveniently located in the Citgo parking lot, just a few blocks from the square in WB. The kind woman behind the counter and grill hooked me up with a chicken skewer that would normally go on a gyro, as an add-on, but I had my eyes on the falafel ‘sandwich’ (gyro).

Hand-scooped and fresh-tasting, the falafel popped; I watched her work the griddle until the tasty scoops were golden brown, then placed them on the pita, piled high with fresh cut veggies and a creamy dressing. I had to add the pineapple Fanta, never saw that before so my little guy will love it.

As quickly as I went into the gas station for a few other items, the food was hot and ready. Convenient ways to pay and great service, it was some of the best falafel I've ever had and it's perfect as a gyro.”

“We had an overall good experience. Our wait staff was wonderful! Detailed, attentive, unassuming. The young men that were clearing or filling water were excellent too. Our food was delicious. However, it was my mother-in-law’s first visit. She has ambulation issues and walks slowly. We entered the casino floor which is gated off from the shops and restaurants. We did not realize we could not enter the restaurant from our position without going back to the front entrance. There was a gate located about 20 ft from the restaurant and I had hoped that if we asked them to open it for a disabled patron they may be able to help. I called to the (5 or 6) women behind the host station. They looked at me and ignored me. I called out again and a woman came out to talk to us. It was obvious she was unhappy to help. I asked if the gate could bel opened to allow my mother to cross the isle without going all the way back. She (later found out her name was Dawn and she was one of two managers) was dismissive, short and offered no assistance, no empathy. And she finished by saying “this IS a casino”. Which I found insultingly obvious. I suspect she didn’t realize we had a reservation. I suspect Dawn didn’t realize we were going to be her customers. I didn’t mention it - but shouldn’t they be hospitable to even the casino goers? It’s wasn’t a big deal in the scheme of life. But it did put a dark cloud over our dinner. I’ve been to Ruth Chris many times at many different locations. I’ve never been treated poorly. I won’t be returning the Wilkes-Barre location.”

“I had just missed my flight back home and after 5 hours at the airport things began to look rather grim. I then decided to take a walk and by complete luck happened to use this location as a pickup spot for my Uber. What started as me wanting a small snack then turned into a newfound appreciation for Somali cuisine and an eating experience I will have yet to forget. Tawakal Halal gave me the best food and service in about 14 minutes than other establishments have managed to give me in an hour, so great in fact, that I wouldn’t have forgiven myself if I didn’t go a second time before I left. The food by itself is beyond amazing and I could write a whole review entirely on how great the food is, however, my personal favorites were the Goat Biryani and the Halwa as an excellent dessert option after. In addition to the food, the service here was amazing as well. The staff were always making sure I had everything I needed and doing everything they could to make my experience there a pleasant one, even offering me tea as I waited for my Uber. All in all, the best way I could describe this café to anyone wanting to know more about it is that it is truly everything you could ever ask for in a dining experience: fantastic food and amazing service. It even no longer made me upset that I missed my flight that day for if I hadn’t, I would have never been able to find this gem of a café. Seems like all the locals hang here, and it was pretty busy.Convenience store, hot food, cold beer, a gas station, and a car wash!They had my favorite Red Bull here, the juneberry one, which was awesome because it's hard to find since the end of summer because I think it was discontinued.I'm glad we stopped here too, because we discovered one tire was real low on air. The air pump we used in the back was soooo slow, but it ran forever, so it got the job done. On our way out we saw another newer air pump by the carwash that takes credit cards and everything. That one probably works better, I wish I noticed it at first.Anyways, the people at the counter were really nice. I'd stop here again if in the area, for sure!”

“This is the second time it was dried out. No taste. And the bottled garlic that they are using was so over powering it for Ed it down. And I asked for a little more sauce. When it came. It was all dried. Like it was sitting g under the heat lamp a long time. This is the second time. And it had no taste. Twice . And the prices have gone sky high for. “Great place to grab a bite. Food is flavorful and service was friendly. They are reasonably priced (almost too much so) especially with the rising cost of takeout these days. You get a lot of food for your money here.

The only reason I’m giving atmosphere 4 stars is because of the lack of parking and there’s not that many seats for dining in. But most people take their food to go and whenever I’ve visited I usually have no trouble finding a seat (though as word gets out about this place that may not be the case for long).

Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.”
