The Scratch Kitchen & Anthracite Room

Excellent breakfast spot. We were at the casino and wanted something different for breakfast. Found this spot minutes from the casino. There is plenty of seating and we didn't have to wait to be seated. The staff was friendly and on top of making sure you had what you needed. The food came out quickly and was fresh and delicious. Would highly recommend you visit if you are in the area.

Wow, how sad this once beautiful diner has become so deteriorated and obviously neglected! Today, 5/19/26 we attempted to dine here, but were instantly turned off by the severely neglected exterior with crumbling stairs, overgrown flower beds, and a very dilapidated appearance. Then you enter a once pristine streamline diner which obviously no one cares about anymore. The floors are FILTHY, seats tipped, exposing the filthy stuffing, and the kitchen doors are disgustingly dirty. How could we trust you to prepare food for us if you care nothing about how your restaurant looks to customers. I can't imagine your staff ever cleans the ice machine or any other food prep areas. We turned and walked out. Shame on everyone who works there. Food borne illnesses is rampant in filth and your customers are gambling with their health dining there.

First time here, from out of town. Eh.
Egg Benedict was decent, the pancake was fine. The potatoes were ice cold. They were heated up for me. Added salt, pepper, ketchup. No taste at all.

Great place for breakfast and lunch. The eight of us were looking for a better option and this was definitely it. Portions were huge and tasty. Lots of options and you can mix and match items, let alone make modifications to their standards.

Service was outstanding as well. You can tell from the Scratch in their name that the food may take a bit to show up, but it was worth the wait.

I was at the Wilkes-Barre VA for an appointment. My husband and I like to support local busy and found The Scratch Kitchen on Google. The portion was very generous and extremely good. The service was friendly and fast. Wish we lived closer!!! I give them 5 stars!!!!

I was in town for a comedy gig and wanted to try a new breakfast spot before heading home. Best decision I've ever made. This place is truly incredible! I wish I had 10 stomachs so I could try more things! Can't wait to come back!!!

One of the waitresses that are working today, instead of being on their job and listening to somebody who wanted specifics when it came to their meal. Decided right in front of them to gossip, and make people feel a certain way. So they ended up just paying for drinks and leaving.

No one in their right mind when it comes to working in a food service place should feel like they are above any type of customer to the point where they can go and laugh the way that they did being as disgusting as they were. She needs to be fired, she's going to be the reason why they're ratings tank when it comes to the service!!

Y'all better train your waitresses, they need to understand that the customers are the reason why they get paid. And they're also the reason why they get tips, disgusting service like that is going to crash and burn that entire Diner. Absolutely disgusting

Atmosphere was a little strange. Food tasted good, but none of our sandwiches were hot.We got the sandwiches with the macaroni and cheese on them.The bread was barely toasted the inside of the sandwich from it not being toasted long enough was cold.When you have a sandwiched like that , you want the hot gooey cheese. Took everything home heated it and it was delicious.
