Best waitress I've ever had! Eve with the hat!

Carm

Was busy. The meatlovers skillet was cold home fries undercooked sausage two strips of bacon and chipped lunch meat ham with an omelette with two whole slices of cheese on top 😑 Later in the day started breaking out in herpes cold sores. In my mouth and on my lips I'm guessing that the silverware and dishes were filthy. Smh.fkn GROSS

If I could leave zero stars for the service we received, or should I say, the zero service we received I would. The Cracked Egg certainly isn't as cracked up as everyone thinks. Two of us arrived on Saturday, Dec 28, 2024, around 1120 am, we waited a few minutes for small booth to be bussed, even thought the sign said seat yourself, the only seats available were a small two seater in between two larger tables within about 2 feet of each other in the back of the establishment, and a large 6 seater around the corner from the bar at the front of the establishment. We didn't feel like sitting elbow to elbow with people we didn't know, nor did we think it appropriate to take up a table for 6 when there was just two of us. All that being said, we sat in the booth after it was bussed, and we're handed two menus. Flipped our coffee cups over indicating we'd love a coffee to start. The waitress with the yellow headband made eye to eye contact with me several times without ever asking if we wanted a coffee or something to drink while we perused the menu. After approximately 15 minutes and never being acknowledged, she had a pot of decaf in her hands and I literally had to flag her down and point at my cup indicating I would like a coffee. She finally walked over to our booth, I requested regular coffee, she said ok, this is decaf, never even asking my guest if she wanted anything, we watched her walk back behind the bar, put the decaf pot back on the burner, never to return to our booth again. After 15 more minutes of NEVER being acknowledged or waited on we got up and walked out. We saw others who came in after us be waited on and served, specifically the two folks who sat at the elbow to elbow two seat table in the rear of the establishment. We then proceeded to Ollie's in Edwardsville and were waited on AND served all within the 30 minutes we wasted at The Cracked Egg. We will never be returning thanks to yellow head band waitress, and we have spent mucho denero previously there, which BTW, is one of the most expensive breakfasts in the area.

Expensive. Not. You get a lot for your dollar.

Cold soup given with hardly anything in it. Sent back at once. Was taken off the bill. Grilled cheese was mediocre at best. BLT to go with toasted bread requested. Bread was soggy and not toasted. This place has gone downhill the last 1-2 years. I will definitely not be returning to this place. No wonder there were only a handful of people during the lunchtime hour. Waitresses are polite.

Edit: in response to the owner reply. Yes , you can get FOOD POISONING in as little as 6 hours. We were at your establishment at 10AM. “The cracked egg at the colonial house.” We got sick around 8PM and only the people who ate the messed up order. The fact that you do not know about food poisoning and are trying to gaslight me by saying I was not there is ridiculous.

Yesterday I ordered a pancake with strawberries on top and they told me the cook made a waffle on accident instead. I said that was fine and shared it with my toddler while my husband had something else. My toddler and I have had diarrhea and abdominal cramps since last night. This was our first time to the new “cracked egg” and absolutely will be our only time. On top of that the orange juice tastes terrible like one of those frozen concentrate cans and my toddler wouldn’t even drink the chocolate milk. I’m not sure what was wrong that made us so sick because the food wasn’t terrible but it definitely wasn’t great. I’ve had better. Overall, I still suggest no one go there. I will be calling them tomorrow to let them know as well.

Food is very good. Been there many of times. Just got to watch and what time you go. There's not a lot of space. It's a busy little place because of the good food
