“n January 2018, the winter chill settled heavily over Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania. Inside the Villegas household, the air was filled with the usual lively hum of family life. Miguel Villegas, the patriarch, sat in the living room discussing local news with Manuel and Raul, while Ana Cortez and Yani Villegas moved between the kitchen and the dining area, planning a quiet evening in.
However, for Junior Villegas, the night called for a reunion. He had arranged to meet two of his closest friends, Christopher Gola and Rosemarie Antonelli, who had made the hour-long drive down from Moosic, PA. The trio had a long-standing tradition of catching up over a meal, and they chose a familiar landmark for their meeting: the Applebee's Grill + Bar in Wyomissing.
