“At the time of writing this review, In Diferente restaurant holds a Bib Gourmand award from Michelin. However, the quality and presentation of the food, professional service, and atmosphere make it feel like a Michelin star establishment.

Chef Angelica Salvador, who runs the restaurant, brings traditional Portuguese cuisine with a modern twist, creating a delightful gastronomic journey that exceeds every expectation. Each dish is a delicacy for your tastebuds, offering flavors your mind never knew it craved.

The service was absolutely incredible. Each waiter knew the menu inside and out, answering every question with expertise. They were extremely professional, attentive to our needs, and ensured our wine glasses were never empty, seamlessly keeping the wine pairing flowing.

During this trip, I also visited another local Michelin star restaurant in Porto. While I won't disparage the specific Michelin restaurant, I can honestly say that In Diferente surpassed it in all categories.

We did the tasting menu and wine pairing (it is worth every penny). We both left full and believed this was the best meal we had while visiting Portugal. It is a must try if you are in the Porto area.“

“We used viamichelin website for a restaurant in Porto and found Apego.It was a good decision to go here, we enjoyed it very much. We took the 5 course tasting menu with pairing wines. Each course we found very tasteful, with the pairing wine further elevating the flavors. To us the key world was balance. Each course fitted nicely with the predecessing course. The crew was very nice, taking time to explain every dish and wine in both Portugese and (perfect) English and making us feel at home. “The lady who served us Fernanda was so sweet and genuine. She’s one of the best waitresses we’ve had on holidays so far. She was polite and always smiling. She was friendly and professional. She made our experience wonderful. The waiter who provided us complimentary wine was also great, very friendly. Everyone we interacted with was lovely. Views and ambience was great, food was delicious, only downfall was portion size. The lamb my hubby got was super small considering the price. Overall it was a lovely dinner though.“

“Despite not being fully vegan, the number of vegan options here is borderline overwhelming. The pancakes were incredible and quite filling, and the açai bowl was just as delicious. The nut-forward smoothie (I forgot the name) was really good as well. There was an option to add vegan protein powder but I didn't add any. Everything was reasonably priced, too.“

The food and service clearly showed why it was always busy. The gnocchi and chicken cacciatore were great. Specifically my gnocchi tasted fresh and the portion was huge.
