“A genuinely incredible dining experience.
Chef Robert has done something very special here. The combination of ingenuity of recipes, local produce and flawless presentation lived up to the expectations and beyond.
The service was also exquisite.
A must see if you're a culinary fan and in Madeira!”

“X5 vegetarian options. Great food. Nice staff. Great value”
“We had a nice evening but was slightly under par for what is expected. It's hard not to compare with Il Gallo d'oro, which is close by and performs on a clearly higher level and casts a long shadow.”

“Poncha one of the best we tried in Madeira! All flavors are delicious, except English tomato (I do not recommend this one). It's a small place on the corner, crowded, so it's hard to get a table in the evening, but you can take a drink in a paper cup to go. Affordable prices, great taste!”

“Excellent food, friendly service (4 stars as they were short handed, so a bit slow) fun atmosphere- close to where we were staying, but off the beaten path….so had to look for it, which was fun. Appeared to be popular with both locals & tourists. mojitos were soo good. We both had the pulled pork - will try the chicken next time! Highly recommend”

“The owner prepares the cocktails right in front of you so you can see how your poncha is made. You have free snacks next to it which super tasty. The atmosphere is amazing, highly recommended.”

“It is a place to drink craft beers, which has little more than three dishes (quesadillas, tacos and burritos) if you want to have dinner, but they are amazing and are more than enough (without accompaniments that in the end you always end up leaving, such as potatoes or salad).
Very quiet atmosphere at 8pm, although I suppose it goes on for days. It is a sports bar type place, so it is not for families with children, we did go with two teenagers.
I will repeat for sure before I leave.
Wheelchair accessibility: It communicates with two streets, the lower one suitable for wheelchair access, the dining room is on that level.”

“Half of the options on the vegetarian a la carte menu can be made vegan. None of the desserts can be made vegan however they kindly whipped us up a chocolate mousse with red fruits, it was delicious. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. Food is on the pricey side and has an upmarket feel. Beautiful view out to sea.”

“What sets Indian Palace apart from other Indian restaurants is that you get free crusty Indian bread with dips. +++++
The service is courteous and attentive, but not intrusive! +++++
We tested the vegetarian dishes and were pleasantly surprised by the large selection and taste. The prices in comparison to other Indian restaurants in Funchal are quite cheap. I think the quality is great. +++++
Definitely recommended!
Vegetarian options: The paneer cheese is made fresh every day. This is nice and soft and aromatic!
In my opinion, the aroma of the masala sauce is the best compared to other Indian restaurants!”

“Small but airy and comfortable space. The menu leaned toward falafel but the daily specials (2 daily entrees 1 cake of the day) were totally different and sounded good but we did go for wraps and a dessert. We were told by someone we met in Funchal about how much we would like this restaurant and it was true.”

“We took a break here while exploring Madeira. The Bar / Restaurant popped up at my Google maps and it was worth stopping by! Beautifully located in nature, modern Ambiente and good food & drinks! I had the vegetarian burger you see on the picture and it was delicious! From coffee to cocktails, from snacks to a full on menu - everyone will be pleased!”

“What a wonderful spot in Funchal! Went back several times to enjoy the tastiest cocktails in a cozy narrow street full of restaurants. The choice is huge and the cocktails are delicious! Live music in the evenings. Service is great!”

“We are so happy to have discovered this location near us (outside the city center). Simply fantastic. Super tasty, fresh food (e.g. spaghetti Bolognese and penne). Great prices and nice location. I think the positive reviews speak for themselves. We'll definitely come by again.”

“We were advised at A Traineira (Caniço de Baixo) and we are completely satisfied.
The bolo do caco at the beginning fresh from the wood-fired oven together with our traditional Poncha was divine. Then the picanha accompanied by 2 risottos (onion, beans and chorizo) was the highlight. We ordered it rare to our liking and it arrived that way. Then, at the end, the mousse clearly made in-house with hazelnuts on top was perfect, not to mention the always attentive service. I highly recommend it!”

“Highly recommended place in Madeira. After several tried espetadas we can say that it is one of the best and to highlight the homemade meatballs which are spectacular. Very good attention and service.”

“We had the most wonderful dinner at Gazebo last night. We have previously been to Gazebo for private events but this was our first time going since they opened it up as a restaurant and it was just as special an experience. As always, Filipe’s food was exquisite, presentation perfect and the atmosphere intimate. Everything is sourced locally and the homemade bread was up there as some of the best I’ve ever had!”

“Als Vorspeise hatten wir Bruschetta und waren begeistert, dass wir eine art Baguette bekamen was selbstgemacht aussah mit Spinat und das traditionelle Bruschetta in nichts nachstand. Auch die Pizza war Mega lecker. Fluffiger Rand aber kein Veganer Käse Updated from previous review on 2024-09-19”

“"Taberna do petisco" is a culinary gem that merits the attention of every discerning gourmet. From the very first bite, it is evident that the dishes are crafted with meticulous care and passion. The house specialties are nothing short of extraordinary—each offering is a harmonious blend of flavors, transforming every meal into a memorable experience.
The service at "Taberna do petisco" is exemplary. The staff is not only courteous but also remarkably attentive, remembering their patrons and adding a personal touch that enhances the dining experience. Notably, despite the absence of a tip on the first day, we were met with the same warmth and attentiveness on our return, a testament to their unwavering commitment to hospitality.
While the staff's proficiency in English may be limited, communication and ordering pose no difficulty. It is clear that at "Taberna do petisco," the universal language of exquisite cuisine is spoken fluently, with taste as the primary medium of expression.
A particularly commendable aspect of this establishment is the exceptional price-to-quality ratio. The prices are moderate, yet the quality of the food far surpasses what one might expect, offering superb value for money. The dishes are sure to impress even the most exacting of palates.
In conclusion, "Taberna do petisco" is a place I unreservedly recommend. Its unforgettable flavors, impeccable service, and inviting atmosphere make it a destination to which I will undoubtedly return.”

“My family loved the location: we watched the waves from the „first row“, so to say. We had the daily fish (seabream), it was really good. Our friend had the omelets, she was happy. Sangrias good. But then when we wanted cakes a very unfriendly waitress came (until then we were served by a bit toothless but friendly guy) and in a very unfriendly way said no cakes and then in a very unfriendly way we got our coffees. I was kind of baffled by that. The bill was very high compare to other places.”
