“Just a coffee and delicious cake. And after we asked about it, a fresh orange was picked for us from the tree opposite. Owner speaks excellent English and knows the area, and is a rich source of information. Worth a visit for those who want to discover the north coast.“

“We took a break here while exploring Madeira. The Bar / Restaurant popped up at my Google maps and it was worth stopping by! Beautifully located in nature, modern Ambiente and good food & drinks! I had the vegetarian burger you see on the picture and it was delicious! From coffee to cocktails, from snacks to a full on menu - everyone will be pleased!“

“A must stop. They don't speak English, if you ask for an English menu they shake their heads. In a few words, they will tell you what, of course, has nothing to do with what you think. Here you really arrive in Madeira. You can eat well for cheap. It is not a place reserved for tourists. But Google is your friend, you can figure out what's going on and they don't care about you. ? Then you'll get something to eat. But you get the feeling of going to a local on Sunday. Don't ask for a cheese sandwich, because cold Gepsonka cold cheese is cold Madeira bread. But they bring it out in 1 minute.“

“We found this place by accident.A small bar with locals, great service and some of the best ponchos I've tried during my trip to Madeira (and I drank a lot of them). For the poncha we got pieces of chicken in its own sauce.Homely atmosphere, beautiful views, stay a while!“

“This is one of the authentic bars in Madeira. Starting from the front door itself, above which something about tradition is written, to the door handle itself, which is original and over 100 years old. The floor is made of cobblestone, old stone, like Skadarlija in Belgrade or in general the old pedestrian zone in cities. Inside there is an old anchor, lanterns, machines used to make wine, as well as various other decorative items. The choice of drinks is a separate story and I hope I won't scare you if I tell you that there are old bottles of wine that cost 2000 euros. Good old rum is served here as well as standard drinks. The view is beautiful because the sea is right across the street. Truly a place you should visit if you're passing by.“

“The poncha (regional, passion fruit or fisherman's) is excellent, highlighting the fact that it is made fresh and accompanied by delicious "dentinhos" (chicken wings, pork legs, among others). Attentive and friendly service! Totally recommendable!“

“Because it looked like food across the street, but we just wanted something to drink, we ended up at John's. A very friendly lady who had lived in Switzerland for many years gave us very courteous advice at the counter, hence service 5 despite self-service. A bolo, an apple pie with the drinks, and the apple pie was wonderful with lots of cinnamon, which was a great snack and a very warm conversation.“

“Good vibes around the place. Alot of very delicious chips for quite cheap. Free monkey nuts and garlic beans for just ordering something and this local pub is better than any british pub. The freshly squeezed orange juice is a must have and overall it's very nice. However, one downside is that the service speaks little English so it's hard to communicate if you only speak English or other languages other than Portuguese without the help of someone else or a friend who speaks Portuguese.
Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian foods and drinks that you get served and can order.
Parking: There are a few spots to park on the road but still not very many.
Kid-friendliness: You can order non-alcoholic drinks, lollipops, ice cream and some other foods for kids.“

“Friendly staff. The service is fast. It has a variety of side dishes (lupinions, chicken wings...). Com. Good views of the valley. Mountain range. Of water. Very popular place with. Few places abroad. It has indoor seating. There are good punches of various types. Clean bathrooms.
Parking: Parking on the side of the road but. Away from her. Leaving the parking lot is sometimes difficult because there is a lot of traffic on the road, hence the need for assistance from someone on the street to make the exit maneuver.“
“Sunday afternoon we were the only people there, opted for coffee and cake. Turned out to be the best banana cake ever! Freshly made, moist, light, tasty, just wonderful. 2 x coffees 2 chunks of banana cake €7 bargain! OK so the back to the levada is up a steep hill but hey, I do it evety day for a slab of that cake !“

“Without exaggeration, one of the best meals we’ve ever had, and our favorite meal in Madeira. We got the beef brisket and pork shank, which were excellent! The meats are all marinated and smoked on-site and the flavors are truly delicious. To drink we just had the fresh squeezed lemonade which was wonderful. For dessert we had the passion fruit crème brûlée which was incredible. Wonderful and super friendly service! If you have the chance, definitely make it a point to try this place!“

“"Taberna do petisco" is a culinary gem that merits the attention of every discerning gourmet. From the very first bite, it is evident that the dishes are crafted with meticulous care and passion. The house specialties are nothing short of extraordinary—each offering is a harmonious blend of flavors, transforming every meal into a memorable experience.
The service at "Taberna do petisco" is exemplary. The staff is not only courteous but also remarkably attentive, remembering their patrons and adding a personal touch that enhances the dining experience. Notably, despite the absence of a tip on the first day, we were met with the same warmth and attentiveness on our return, a testament to their unwavering commitment to hospitality.
While the staff's proficiency in English may be limited, communication and ordering pose no difficulty. It is clear that at "Taberna do petisco," the universal language of exquisite cuisine is spoken fluently, with taste as the primary medium of expression.
A particularly commendable aspect of this establishment is the exceptional price-to-quality ratio. The prices are moderate, yet the quality of the food far surpasses what one might expect, offering superb value for money. The dishes are sure to impress even the most exacting of palates.
In conclusion, "Taberna do petisco" is a place I unreservedly recommend. Its unforgettable flavors, impeccable service, and inviting atmosphere make it a destination to which I will undoubtedly return.“

“Poncha and a Nikita drink was needed on the trip and as we went to the peek of the island that day to see the sun set and this is a prime location for after or before staff are friendly atmosphere is awesome and the fresh air surrounding the area is the best
Parking: It's big enough for up to 30 cars give or take possibly more but also think it'll be different at various times of the day
Kid-friendliness: It's kid friendly although it's close to a not so busy road but caution is still key due to location
Wheelchair accessibility: Yes there is a ramp“

“Excellent food and very friendly service by the restaurant owner. We had the two traditional Madeiran meals, Espada (scabbard fish) with banana and Espetada (beef kebab). Both were outstanding! the vegetable that came with the fish were cooked to perfection. The bolo do caco (garlic bread) nicely rounded out the meal. all of this with a glass of a nice house red and Coca Cola with real cane sugar for 30 euros. That is hard to beat...“

“Today we enjoyed a delicious soup of the day and bruschetta at O Casco, and both dishes tasted excellent! The staff was very friendly. After we answered in Portuguese, the waitress asked if she should answer in English or Portuguese. We mentioned that we were learning Portuguese, so she calmly spoke Portuguese to us, which made our experience very enjoyable. “A great and affordable restaurant in the beautiful town of Sao Vincente. It is integrated into the narrow, charming streets of this town. The restaurant also has Polish accents, which pleasantly surprised me:
Polish flag, sports club scarves and great service who knows basic Polish phrases.
It is worth visiting and tasting delicious Portuguese dishes.
I recommend!“

“After doing the Levada do Rei, it's a good idea to drink a refreshing coca-cola at this bar.
As soon as I arrived at the place, I realized that it was a different bar than the others. Just for the architecture, it gets some good points. Then, the interior is simple and humble, even perfect considering where it is.
Then, the only part that I didn't like so much, the attention from the employee. He was a little "rough", that is, he didn't show much sympathy or attention. I still had to ask for ice and lemon to be added. It seemed to me that he did it willingly, but I was still receptive. Despite everything, I never felt extra or unwelcome, to be clear.
After paying, I sat at a table outside and let the peace of the place take over me.
Overall, I really liked it.“
