“We found this place by accident.A small bar with locals, great service and some of the best ponchos I've tried during my trip to Madeira (and I drank a lot of them). For the poncha we got pieces of chicken in its own sauce.Homely atmosphere, beautiful views, stay a while!“

“A must stop. They don't speak English, if you ask for an English menu they shake their heads. In a few words, they will tell you what, of course, has nothing to do with what you think. Here you really arrive in Madeira. You can eat well for cheap. It is not a place reserved for tourists. But Google is your friend, you can figure out what's going on and they don't care about you. ? Then you'll get something to eat. But you get the feeling of going to a local on Sunday. Don't ask for a cheese sandwich, because cold Gepsonka cold cheese is cold Madeira bread. But they bring it out in 1 minute.“

“Poncha one of the best we tried in Madeira! All flavors are delicious, except English tomato (I do not recommend this one). It's a small place on the corner, crowded, so it's hard to get a table in the evening, but you can take a drink in a paper cup to go. Affordable prices, great taste!“

“We took a break here while exploring Madeira. The Bar / Restaurant popped up at my Google maps and it was worth stopping by! Beautifully located in nature, modern Ambiente and good food & drinks! I had the vegetarian burger you see on the picture and it was delicious! From coffee to cocktails, from snacks to a full on menu - everyone will be pleased!“

“A Venda Do André ir skaista vieta Madeirā, kur var baudīt gan vietējos dzērienus, gan tradicionālu atmosfēru. Ponča ir viens no slavenākajiem un tradicionālākajiem Madeiras dzērieniem! Izbaudījām marakujas un apelsīnu pončas, bija divi brīnišķīgi veidi, kā izbaudīt tradicionālo madeirisko dzērienus. Abi piedāvā svaigu un eksotisku garšu, kas ideāli iederas A Venda Do André atmosfērā.“

The service from their lovely staff was excellent, the sandwiches and pastries top class and overall the atmosphere was great. Really enjoyed every visit. It was very popular with locals which is always a good sign“

“Cozy place ran by a very kind and friendly young woman. We got two glasses of wine (twice as it was great) and a toast to charge. Everything is made on the spot and this was very much appreciated. Prices are very honest. Certainly going back for my next trip in Madeira. Obrigado!“

“Good time at Bar Stone House on Merida Island
Hey everyone, I just had a fantastic dinner at Bar Stone House on Merida Island. If you’re looking for a place that’s simple and unpretentious, this is it. The setting is super chill, with a second-floor balcony that gives you an amazing ocean view. Perfect spot to relax and enjoy your meal.
The food focuses on traditional island cuisine, and it’s all super fresh and flavorful. Even better, the whole meal, including wine, was just 60 euros. Seriously, you can't beat that price for what you get.
Don’t let the laid-back vibe fool you—it may not look upscale, but the quality of the food and service is top-notch. The staff were really friendly and attentive, making sure we had a great time.
Whether you’re hanging out with friends, family, or just looking for a nice evening out, Bar Stone House is a must-visit. It’s got that cool, Miami vibe but keeps things simple and authentic. Definitely check it out next time you’re on the island!“

“This is one of the authentic bars in Madeira. Starting from the front door itself, above which something about tradition is written, to the door handle itself, which is original and over 100 years old. The floor is made of cobblestone, old stone, like Skadarlija in Belgrade or in general the old pedestrian zone in cities. Inside there is an old anchor, lanterns, machines used to make wine, as well as various other decorative items. The choice of drinks is a separate story and I hope I won't scare you if I tell you that there are old bottles of wine that cost 2000 euros. Good old rum is served here as well as standard drinks. The view is beautiful because the sea is right across the street. Truly a place you should visit if you're passing by.“
“Good food at very reasonable prices.Soup of the day was delicious (2,80€), as it was the dish of the day (bacalhau/cod with rice, 7€).Nice table on the terrace with view of the square.Smiling and friendly staff willing to help.Obrigado às garçonetes! Da Espanha“

“It's a great place if you want to do rum tasting or port wine tasting. Please note that they only have port wines in their Portugal wine tasting repertoire since Madeira is famous for its port wines. The vibe was really chill around 10 pm with people sitting outside and one guy playing guitar.“
“Authentic Madeiran food which was beautifully cooked and tasted amazing. The staff were all very friendly and the service excellent. We had scabbard fish which was soft, delicate and very tasty, and also an octopus salad which was also very good. The owner recommended a bottle of wine which went very well with all of our dishes.“

“A nice place popular with locals. They have a selection of sandwiches, small dishes, and lots of drink options. When we were there it was hard to get a seat because it was so busy, but the service was still fast. Communicating in English not necessarily the easiest but overall we really enjoyed our stop here.“
“The coffee is very good, the service is nice, the place is nothing special, there are a few tables and chairs outside, but there is no particular view because it is on the street. Getting to the place is very poorly marked, up a large hill from the end of the trail. However, it is worth being afraid of coffee or beer etc. before returning to Lavada Night“
“This is a very cozy, authentic place to have very tasty poncha (Maracuja + tangerine is the specialty) and is definitely worth the way up.Very special compared to other places is the amount of poncha Nelson has prepared for the evening (fresh of course) and you can even buy bottles to take with you!We enjoyed this place a lot.“

“A rustic sports and tapas bar that is a little away from the hustle and bustle of tourism and the restaurant mile. There is a very good poncha there (€2.50) and it is the best for me so far. Very friendly boss and familiar, local atmosphere - that's how you have to experience Funchal.“

“You guys are amazing! We have driven here only for this authentic drink Pe de Cabra. It was worth it! So delicious and very cheap. “Because it looked like food across the street, but we just wanted something to drink, we ended up at John's. A very friendly lady who had lived in Switzerland for many years gave us very courteous advice at the counter, hence service 5 despite self-service. A bolo, an apple pie with the drinks, and the apple pie was wonderful with lots of cinnamon, which was a great snack and a very warm conversation.“

“After doing the Levada do Rei, it's a good idea to drink a refreshing coca-cola at this bar.
As soon as I arrived at the place, I realized that it was a different bar than the others. Just for the architecture, it gets some good points. Then, the interior is simple and humble, even perfect considering where it is.
Then, the only part that I didn't like so much, the attention from the employee. He was a little "rough", that is, he didn't show much sympathy or attention. I still had to ask for ice and lemon to be added. It seemed to me that he did it willingly, but I was still receptive. Despite everything, I never felt extra or unwelcome, to be clear.
After paying, I sat at a table outside and let the peace of the place take over me.
Overall, I really liked it.“
“Its 11:00 pm & all restaurants were closed by the beach! This is a safe haven for late night eaters ! Ate ham & cheese toast & steak special sandwich that hit the spot after a long day of sightseeing. Drinks were delicious. Definitely recommend visiting.“

“One thing Madeira is famous for is its legendary Poncha. The best Poncha will always be found away from the center of Funchal and in the little fishing villages where it originated.
The bar is also known as the "original Poncha bar." I have no clue if that is true or just great self-promotion. But the Poncha here is spot on! They even have one that is unique to their bar and is a "secret" recipe, and it is very good.
The inside is literally a shire to Ronaldo. If you are a fan, that would make it worth the trip.
Oh, if you're new to Poncha, be careful. It has a sneaky punch behind it.“

“The place is fantastic, close to a beautiful fall and the ocean. We stopped there on 07.05.24 around 20:00 after a day trip on the island and we were lucky to find it. We ate shrimps with fries and local Madeira bread (with butter & garlic) + we drank 2 Coral beers and paid around 25 Euros. We did not expect to be received so well in a small restaurant on the side of the road. Also, 5 stars for the cleanliness of the bathroom.“

“A true masterpiece in such a small space.??
A simple space on the outside, but inside we have excellent cuisine in snacks, an art gallery to support artisans, a very friendly staff, a very well equipped wine cellar and of course the icing on the cake, the decoration in the your whole.
Go to the bathroom for a repair, you'll understand why. “

“Madeira local place.
We had 3 beers of 33 and 3 panozzi with tuna (marinated with onion and herbs), local fish with onion (I don't remember the name) and Mrs. cow's tongue and (absurdly) onion.
We paid 16 euros, July 2024.
The patrons were all locals of a certain age and well taken care of. There is the possibility of sharing the table with someone. The place appears on any intersection.
Vote ten.
Vegetarian options: They weren't there today. Never. As in almost the whole island.
Parking: Parking on site or 100 meters away.
Wheelchair accessibility: It is one of the few flat places.“

“Good vibes around the place. Alot of very delicious chips for quite cheap. Free monkey nuts and garlic beans for just ordering something and this local pub is better than any british pub. The freshly squeezed orange juice is a must have and overall it's very nice. However, one downside is that the service speaks little English so it's hard to communicate if you only speak English or other languages other than Portuguese without the help of someone else or a friend who speaks Portuguese.
Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian foods and drinks that you get served and can order.
Parking: There are a few spots to park on the road but still not very many.
Kid-friendliness: You can order non-alcoholic drinks, lollipops, ice cream and some other foods for kids.“
“Vítor é uma pessoa incrível com um coração enorme. Passei alguns meses em Funchal com minha família e todos os dias amávamos ir até ele para tomar um café, cerveja preta com casca de limão e ele sempre encontrava algum doce para as crianças. Parking: Parking on the side of the road but. Away from her. Leaving the parking lot is sometimes difficult because there is a lot of traffic on the road, hence the need for assistance from someone on the street to make the exit maneuver.“

“I went to this place for the first time, on purpose to enjoy the francesinha. Very acceptable. Tasty and well served (if the steak was 2 or 3 mm longer, nothing would be lost). The sauce is tasty, but could thicken a little more. The fries, although they weren't bad, have the defect of being pre-frozen (they soon lose a star).
Helpful and communicative employees, in a spacious and airy location.
Acceptable price.
To be repeated, to confirm the assessment.“
