“Poncha one of the best we tried in Madeira! All flavors are delicious, except English tomato (I do not recommend this one). It's a small place on the corner, crowded, so it's hard to get a table in the evening, but you can take a drink in a paper cup to go. Affordable prices, great taste!“

“We took a break here while exploring Madeira. The Bar / Restaurant popped up at my Google maps and it was worth stopping by! Beautifully located in nature, modern Ambiente and good food & drinks! I had the vegetarian burger you see on the picture and it was delicious! From coffee to cocktails, from snacks to a full on menu - everyone will be pleased!“

“This is definitely the best craft beer spot in the Island.
The variety and choices of beers on tap and on can is very large and good.
The quality of the beers and homemade nibbles is undeniable.
I’ve spent a week in Funchal and have been visiting Graca and Duarte every open day !
Thank you for your kindness and your very warm welcome, and for a new friendship !
I’ll be back soon

“Cozy place ran by a very kind and friendly young woman. We got two glasses of wine (twice as it was great) and a toast to charge. Everything is made on the spot and this was very much appreciated. Prices are very honest. Certainly going back for my next trip in Madeira. Obrigado!“

“This is a bar/cafe that is well worth a visit. We visited on a number of occasions for coffee, lunch and drinks during a recent visit to Funchal. The service from their lovely staff was excellent, the sandwiches and pastries top class and overall the atmosphere was great. Really enjoyed every visit. It was very popular with locals which is always a good sign“

“It's a great place if you want to do rum tasting or port wine tasting. Please note that they only have port wines in their Portugal wine tasting repertoire since Madeira is famous for its port wines. The vibe was really chill around 10 pm with people sitting outside and one guy playing guitar.“

“A true masterpiece in such a small space.??
A simple space on the outside, but inside we have excellent cuisine in snacks, an art gallery to support artisans, a very friendly staff, a very well equipped wine cellar and of course the icing on the cake, the decoration in the your whole.
Go to the bathroom for a repair, you'll understand why. “

“An excellent small bar right on the pebble beach with a shower, hidden from tourists. The prices are more than excellent, great food and really friendly staff. Every time I'm in Madeira, it's a mandatory stop. Keep up the good work“

“A rustic sports and tapas bar that is a little away from the hustle and bustle of tourism and the restaurant mile. There is a very good poncha there (€2.50) and it is the best for me so far. Very friendly boss and familiar, local atmosphere - that's how you have to experience Funchal.“
“Good food at very reasonable prices.Soup of the day was delicious (2,80€), as it was the dish of the day (bacalhau/cod with rice, 7€).Nice table on the terrace with view of the square.Smiling and friendly staff willing to help.Obrigado às garçonetes! Da Espanha“

“A nice place popular with locals. They have a selection of sandwiches, small dishes, and lots of drink options. When we were there it was hard to get a seat because it was so busy, but the service was still fast. Communicating in English not necessarily the easiest but overall we really enjoyed our stop here.“

“Authentic Madeiran food which was beautifully cooked and tasted amazing. The staff were all very friendly and the service excellent. We had scabbard fish which was soft, delicate and very tasty, and also an octopus salad which was also very good. The owner recommended a bottle of wine which went very well with all of our dishes.“

“You guys are amazing! We have driven here only for this authentic drink Pe de Cabra. It was worth it! So delicious and very cheap. We paid only 6€ for two drinks and had very delicious beans for free. The bar is in the most beautiful place, you can see the whole city and the bar’s staff were super friendly.“

“Because it looked like food across the street, but we just wanted something to drink, we ended up at John's. A very friendly lady who had lived in Switzerland for many years gave us very courteous advice at the counter, hence service 5 despite self-service. A bolo, an apple pie with the drinks, and the apple pie was wonderful with lots of cinnamon, which was a great snack and a very warm conversation.“

“Bar Lounge on the theme of music, a fairly intimate atmosphere with a refined but elegant decoration. Special mention for the counter lined with bottles and large mirrors!
The cocktail menu is in the form of a mini discotheque.
I recommend the “Sweet Coffee of Mine” which is truly amazing!“

“Excellent restaurant, the best food we ate in Funchal!!! To our surprise, it was not the beer that was important, but the excellent food: be sure to try Picado (we ate beef and octopus). Great service and atmosphere! And finally, brandy shots, which is not standard in Funchal! I recommend it 100%“

“I went to this place for the first time, on purpose to enjoy the francesinha. Very acceptable. Tasty and well served (if the steak was 2 or 3 mm longer, nothing would be lost). The sauce is tasty, but could thicken a little more. The fries, although they weren't bad, have the defect of being pre-frozen (they soon lose a star).
Helpful and communicative employees, in a spacious and airy location.
Acceptable price.
To be repeated, to confirm the assessment.“
“Walked all of 10 steps to the next bar. Another typical little bar with pleasant outside seating. Back on the Coral and a white wine. Lovely evening. Puffed maize kernals as a freebie tapas. Lovely and crunchy. Attracting the pigeons.€5.50.“

“Very friendly and attentive service. My father took the skewer with seven types of fish and I had the lasagne (which was incredibly tasty and almost like my mother's). “Wonderful restaurant! Mauricio Faria, the chef, does a great job, especially when it comes to starters and main dishes (the pasta with lamb are amazing, as well as the fish we had). Waiters are very friendly and attentive, and the place, with its orange morrocan vibes, makes the experience even more appreciable. I unreservedly recommend :)“

“An enchanting little snack bar with great service and delicious meals. Their lunch specials are great so get there early before they run out of the specials. If you miss the specials that's ok, just about everything on their menu is the best version you will find. I love their simple yet delicious vegetable wrap and their chicken mixed salad. Even the beets, which I normally don't like are an addition to the tasted profile of salads and warps due to how thin they are sliced. The snack bar is nesstled in a quiet street near the Rodoeste business office.“

“We were walking along the beach and this restaurant caught our eye.
For dinner we had a beef burger and picodas de carne.
The beef burger with fries was very tasty and, above all, very cheap at 9 euros.
I actually ordered picodas with chicken and not beef. Unfortunately it was a bit dry but otherwise very tasty. Especially the portion for 17 euros is also very inexpensive.
Iced tea and Barisa passion fruit also only 1.90 euros.
Unfortunately only 4 stars because of my food but otherwise only recommended, especially the price-performance ratio.“

“All of 30 metres away from Sunny bar we found small bar Expresso. Another wonderful locals bar. Super locals vibe and great value. Oddly it has world snooker final on TV. We were drinking next to the Crucible Theatre when it started just over 2 weeks ago. Small world.“

“Cool and pleasant atmosphere in the shade. The coffee is delicious, but the snack, specifically the toast, is small, close to the price charged. Fast and friendly service. Due to the large flow and wind, there is a lot of trash on the ground, which should receive more attention from employees.“

“(Translated by Google) Just a nice neighborhood pub at a crossroads in a neighborhood outside the tourist center of Funchal. Truly a place where all world problems are provided with a solution by visitors within fifteen minutes. The friendly young man behind the bar spoke a quarter of a word of English, but helped us with a delicious Coral beer. We had actually come for a small bite, but the meny card was out of the question. Still, we got some peanuts and chicken wings.
Continue assim, meu amigo ❤️“

“Insider tip for anyone coming to Funchal for the first time! The restaurant is in a quiet location and very untouristy. The food is extremely tasty - we can recommend the Prego e spezial, ideally with a typical Madeira cider ?
We have been to Funchal twice and have been looking forward to the food for a year.
When we return to Madeira, this is our absolute go to shop.“

“Clean and cozy place. Very beautiful decoration, matching the space! Much improved in every way!Now let's talk about the food: very well conceived, tasty and well served! Chicken wings with house sauce are great! The nail in bolo do caco is very good!Prices: soooo good! More than affordable... it's better to have reasonable prices and a full house than high prices and serving flies.Today I will once again consume in this space! And probably next week again.Definitely worth your visit.Congratulations to the new owners and all the staff“

“Nice restaurants with lovely singer (live music) and nice atmosphere due to the cool looking bar.
The food was good. Personally I didn't really like the beef ribs. The sauce is too sour and the braised meat is too "heavy" for 25 degree weather and then they also put the mashed corn stuff below the meat. We would eat that in winter time in the Netherlands. I could have known before I ordered but didn't expect the dish to be like this.
Anyway the salmon and pork ribs were nice. Also the chicken wings and chorizo as starters were nice (please explain that the chorizo is pre cooked to guests).
Drinks are good but the bartender especially made it even better. Very happy and friendly guy.
The other waiters did not really look like they were enjoying themselves and were not very attentive.
One tip. Use semi whipped cream with your Irish coffee. From a can with whipped cream you can't make Irish coffee..
ps. The original whiskey (couldn't find it when talking to the bartender) is Tullamore Dew.“
