“Homemade and abundant Portuguese food. One of those restaurants that if you like typical, unpretentious and honest places, you have to save. Located in an alley, it is an old house and adapted as a restaurant. They attended us even though they were about to close and of course, with a smile and wonderful kindness. There were dishes that were already sold out by the hour but we ordered soup, 3 types of grilled fish with their accompaniments and rice with beans and grilled chops that were simply perfect. The half portions are enough for more than one. We didn't get to the desserts but if we return to Coimbra we will definitely repeat. We have left our small works of art there as souvenirs and hope to see them again. ?“

“??: What a wonderful discovery this is.
I went in search of some Coimbra-style migas and ended up enjoying the Açorda that accompanied the fried petinga.
One of the best açordas I've eaten in my life.
All the food was extremely fresh and delicious, even the mixed salad.
I recommend it 100% and will definitely be back.
Not to mention the waiters, the girl who served us first and the man who finished our service. Both of them extremely friendly.
??: What an amazing finding this one
I was looking for a place that served “Migas à moda de Coimbra”, which is a dish made with bread, black eyed peas and cabbage.
I end up delighting on the “Açorda” that was a side dish of the fried “petinga”(small sardine like whitebait)
It was one of the best “Açorda” I’ve eaten in my life.
All food we ordered was fresh and delicious.
I recommend this place 100% and no doubt I’ll be back
Also to mentioned the staff that was so friendly and so nice to us. Always with a smile on their faces“

“There are 2 national sandwiches in Portugal the Francesinha and Bifana (pulled pork) Sandwich.
Francesinha Sandwich ...ham, steak filet, chorizo, smoked sausage, cheese, toasted bread, sweet red pepper\tomato garlic sauce ?
If you want the best Francesinha in Coimbra then come here. Our guide and BNB host both recommended this place, Café Atenas.
The best Francesinha we've had. Great value and really good expression of a Portuguese classic!“

My companion's request for a vegan menu was immediately answered in the affirmative. We both opted for the 7-course menu. We ordered cod à Brás and pork à Alentejana and they seemed to me to be of very good quality ingredients and well served and the dessert was delicious. Congratulations to the cook. The service is good. Very nice. The space is cozy with ambient music and no TV (which is worth a lot to me - I'm going to share a meal with people I like, I'm not going to watch TV).The price is super affordable.Perhaps the best restaurant of its kind in Lousã. “Comida Portuguesa muy buena, pedimos un plato de bacalao con espinacas y garbanzos qué me sorprendió, y eso que he comido bastantes platos de bacalao en Portugal. El camarero que nos atendió fue muy simpático y amable. Además, sé me olvidó él móvil y las gafas y, después de habernos marchado, vino en nuestra búsqueda para entregarnoslo, muchas gracias.“

“This place was absolutely fantastic from the food, the service, and atmosphere. We had many wonderful appetizers and wine and sangria with our fabulous entrees. Still our bill was under €40 per person. So far in my experience (especially with steak), this restaurant has the best food by flavor, texture, and presentation in Portugal.
Trying to look it up the restaurant to give review lands me on a web page with its photos but with addresses in Coimbra vs South of the city. Is it possible there is more than one? I can't imagine anything in the area mapped having an atmosphere to compete with what I experience Southeast of Coimbra. I will be investigating and hoping they are connected by more than name.“

“We had Agorda for dinner with prawns, a hamburger and for dessert pavlova with red fruits. Everything was delicious, the prawns in particular. They don't have csrta in Spanish, but they are very friendly and help you.
You have to go slowly because they take time to cook the dishes.
Highly recommended, quality food. ??“

“Excellent food. Fresh ingredients cooked on the grill outside in front of us. We had the tasting menu and got our money's worth. The owner was kind and took good care of us. “Luca is one of our favourite place to have lunch. The restaurant is located in a cute and peaceful square near the main high street. The food is always delicious and is a great alternative for those who are looking for something healthy to eat. So far we tried the fresh organic orange juices and smoothies, the hummus, falafel, pastel de bacalhau for snacks. We also tried their grilled salmon with couscous which is one of our favourite dishes along with a nice fresh Praxis whenever we feel a bit naughty. :) The staff members are always friendly, smiley and helpful. We will certainly be back soon. ;)“

“Incredible!! Tavern with live Fado music, highly recommended. The place is hidden in one of the alleys of Coimbra, it is a very small but cozy restaurant. The food was very good and the service was fast and efficient. The show starts at 9:30 p.m., so they ask you to arrive around 8:30 p.m. if you want to have dinner. They advise you to reserve, since being small, they have few tables and it fills up quickly. We ordered a ham and cheese sandwich and some spaghetti carbonara (highly recommended). Regarding the Fado concert, without words. Everything is wonderful!! The "group" we heard had an incredible live performance, they even interacted with the audience, which made it even more special. Plus, it's pretty affordable. Dinner plus entry to the show cost us €50. Do not hesitate to come here to enjoy authentic Portuguese Fado while enjoying a cheap romantic dinner.“

“Dinner in Coimbra at this restaurant in the historic center of the city. We tasted the sausage, typical of these areas, prepared in two different cooking methods. Excellent, especially in the chorizo version. The baked potatoes are also good. Informal service by young - always smiling - waiters. Account adequate for the dishes received. Advised.“

“One of my favorite new places in Coimbra! In addition to the wonderful wine cellar, which in itself was a reason to go there, the aged meat, fried potatoes and mushroom rice are my favorites in the city (so much so, that every time I go there I can't order anything else).“

“A Lifesaver in CoimbraExhausted after a long day of shooting, we realized we hadn't even eaten lunch. Asking the hotel receptionist for a recommendation, she enthusiastically declared Arco Bar her "lifesaver."A short walk of 5-10 minutes later, we arrived at Arco Bar. While the exterior appeared intimate, the inside surprised us with a comfortable space accommodating roughly 50 guests. The atmosphere was lively, bathed in the warm glow of numerous ceiling bulbs.Having enjoyed Douro Doc wine for the past three days, we decided to stick with what we knew and ordered another bottle. While we weren't wine experts, the Douro region hadn't disappointed us yet.Our meal began with a delightful spread of olives and bread. Following the receptionist's recommendation, we opted for the grilled black pig, a renowned dish in Coimbra alongside codfish. And let me tell you, the black pig was nothing short of "Delicioso"! This trip, we liberally used the phrase "Out of this World," and the black pig undeniably earned that title.Fries at Arco Bar was equally impressive. Perfectly cooked, it achieved a balance of firm texture without being tough and juicy without being soggy. If I had to describe it in one word, it would be, well, you guessed it – "Out of this World"!While my coworker's shrimp omelet appeared less exciting on the plate, it proved to be light, fresh, and perfect for a pre-bedtime meal. However, the true highlight of the meal was the dessert. While I can't quite recall the specifics, it was possibly a firmer, sweeter version of tiramisu paired with a delightful chocolate mousse. Both were simply divine! The final bill was surprisingly reasonable considering the quality of the food. I left Arco Bar feeling like I could easily dine there every day!“
