“"An exceptional dining experience at 'O Jardin' restaurant! The charming atmosphere and delicious cuisine make this place a must-see. It's a real tuerie and the waiters are super friendly. I recommend it without hesitation!"“
“My dinner at O Gaveto was the highlight of my recent trip to Portugal. We ordered so many wonderful dishes, and each one was better than the first. We ate for hours : the barnacles were as though they were taken directly from the sea, and the scallops were the most divine thing I have ever eaten in my life: they were silky, creamy, salty...just incredible. We had a dish with rice and lobster which was so delicious and had a wonderful depth of flavor . The wine list was also incredible. I ordered a bottle from one of my favorite producers, and minutes later he ended up sitting at the table next me- and before we knew it, were suddenly sharing stories and wine with him. What are the chances?!?! The service was OUTSTANDING, and they were so patient as my friend continued to order more and more food and wine. I will never forget my evening at O Gaveto - this is a DO NOT MISS restaurant just outside of Porto. Absolutely wonderful - I highly recommend it. Thank you O Gaveto for your hospitality, your classic service, and for an evening I won't soon forget.“
“I've been there as a couple and as a group, and both times we were very well attended to, the suckling pig is very good, nothing beats the ones in the mealhada, the suckling pig sandwiches are generous, I liked it.Regarding the suckling pig francesinha, it's not that it's bad, but it didn't convince me, I'm sorry. But overall, it is a place, without a doubt, that I recommend in Valongo.“

“The atmosphere of an old tavern sets the tone for the pearl we find in Valongo. The kids opted for the broken eggs and we opted for the homemade steak.Although the broken eggs seem like a small dose, there were leftovers in the end. The steaks, although not an excellent cut of meat, are perfect for the price charged.A repeat visit.“

“Wow. I had a wonderful dinner at Almeja — which exceeded my expectations. The staff were incredibly welcoming and nice. The setting is intimate, and their food was fantastic. I ordered off the a la carte menu and it was an inventive take on Portuguese food — and delicious — I would have happily paid double what they charged. It was a lighter meal — a nice change after a few days traditional, heavier Portuguese food.I will definitely be recommending Almeja to friends visiting Porto.Vegetarian options: There were multiple staters and two mains that were vegetarian — and the option of a vegetarian tasting menu.“

“The best restaurant with friendly staff who make you feel warmly welcomed, and chef-owner Sofia who serves delicious dishes and continually takes care of customers. The taste, quantity, and cost-effectiveness are all good.It was by far the best memory of my trip to Porto. This place does not always have the same menu, and it is said that the menu of the day is decided after going to the market each day to source fresh ingredients. Today's menu is divided into seafood (white fish, octopus, etc.) and meat (beef, pork, chicken, etc.). Today's menu was explained kindly and in detail in English. The grilled white fish called Dourada, recommended by the staff, was really delicious. Be sure to try it. The beef steak (bill cutlet) was well-made for the price and had a clean taste.I heard that they make their own dessert cake, so I ordered an orange chocolate cake and it was really delicious. You must try this too.Be sure to stop by if you cross the Luis Bridge and head towards Villanova de Gaia!Obrigado por tornar agradável o início e o fim da nossa viagem ao Porto!“

“Located in one of the main streets of Porto. On the first floor of a hotel. It has a very stylish atmosphere. The dishes are small, to share as a couple or so you can order and try many flavors. That enchanted me.The wine list is extensive, I recommend ordering the Portuguese wines because they are very exquisite. The service is very attentive.I would return.“

“Enjoyed a delicious meal here. My husband and I each had the couvert, I had the caprese salad and my husband had a garden salad. We split those and both enjoyed each salad very much. He had the mushroom risotto and I had the lasagna. Everything was brought to us quickly and was very fresh. Will definitely go again.“

“What a delightful restaurant. Some of the best food we've had, alongside immaculate service. Highlights were the octopus and the sausage rice, but everything we ate was delicious. Staff, especially the barman, were brilliant and made the whole evening very special. Would absolutely recommend.“

“Great food an an interesting concept. Staff really friendly and helpful. Essentially it’s a surprise menu, so they bring you a dish, leave you to taste and then tell you what it was. Makes you really appreciate the flavours (even if you get it wrong!). Pairing wine menu also really good. Great evening. Highly recommended.“

“This is a restaurant where I had a very happy experience that washed away all the bad experiences I had in Porto.I was very impressed not only by the taste of the food, but also by the owner's friendly hospitality and food recommendations, and the subtlety of asking whether I would like a starter, which starter he recommended, and whether I would be served first, as the food might be delayed by about 20 minutes. We tried three menu items and were all satisfied. The overall portion was very large and the octopus was so soft that it was difficult to eat in Korea.I was very satisfied with the seafood pasta as it had plump shrimp and lots of clams.Even if you are not Korean, this is a restaurant that everyone will enjoy. If I come to Porto again, I think I will only come here.reference. Both the bread and butter that are served for the first time are charged for a fee. Koreans, please take note. But it’s not a waste and it’s delicious.“

“Just go! Go! Go! Make a reservation as they are almost always full. It is small and quaint and the food is phenomenal. João was the consummate host. Complimentary champagne, olives and fresh warm bread. Then we had the soup of the day, chicken meatballs, peppered pasta with pecorino and ham cheeks with mash potatoes and broccolini. Last but not least lemon orange cake that melts in your mouth. Everything was amazing! I wish I could give them 10 stars!“

“We went in July 2022 but I forgot to leave a review and it was such an amazing experience I thought it’s better late than never! It was a beautiful summer’s day and we had the option to sit inside or outside. We chose the table next to the wall overlooking the river which was so beautiful. And from then everything was perfect.Beautiful looking and tasting dishes, amazing wine and above all top notch service from Rui Santos. What an amazing sommelier and waiter he is. One of the best I have ever come across.Thank you for an experience I will remember for ever.“

“This is the first place that we stopped when we were in Porto. It is really small and absolutely a great place to stop and get some food, wine and beer. The food was really good and a glass of the wine of the day is $3.50. The young fella that took care of us was so nice and told us about the food and that they were serving. We have a one and done rule when we’re traveling, but, if I were going to break the rule it would be at this place.“

“After a morning of walking and taking in the sites , we wander down a little street towards the cathedral and fancied a drink. We spotted this little place with terrace and decided to pop in for some soft drinks and a nice refreshing non alcoholic beer.Having a look over the menu, some nibble caught our eye. Served more tapas style here the portions are small but equally mighty in flavour, we enjoyed a not local dish but local to the owner/manager of the slow cooked pork on brioche and it was really lovely, the cod fritter were a delight, but I feel a nice little aioli would have really lifted them. We ordered the chorizo, and although it was very tasty, we expected a little more. This portion size was on the small side. All in all a nice wee stop and we were around 36€ for 3 tapas and olives, two waters, a cola and non alcoholic beer, a tiny wee bit on the more speny side but not massively and in great location to the cathedralStaff were really lovely and attentive“

“This was a great dining experience here for 3 travellers from Sydney. Delicious hake soup, octopus rice and slow cooked lamb shoulder, finished off with a trio of shared puddings. The serving staff were efficiently attentive and helped choose some lovely wines. The chef/owner initiated a discussion about the two regional menus we could choose between and then delivered a beautiful meal. Booking is essential as the space is not large and it seems they would rather turn away random arrivals than risk overextending their team and sacrificing quality.Get there if you can.“
“A fantastic journey through the 10 courses (moments) of this tasting menu + wine pairings. We were there on a quiet night and because we were a party of 6, chose to eat at a table but if you are are a party of 2-4, sitting at the bar in front of the chefs & the kitchen would be ideal. The food is simply incredible - every dish outstanding with some surprises. Service is really attentive. Wine pairings, available for all but two courses were also great and the the sommelier introduces and explains each one, (although no wine with the bread course - What Would Jesus Do?)Yes, it's a journey north of the city but it's worth the Uber and feels like it's only going to get harder to get a table at this amazing place.“

“Lovely experience that I cannot recommend enough. Incredibly fresh and high quality ingredients cooked simply. The octopus in green sauce was cooked perfectly, best octopus I’ve ever had. Service was very professional and paced perfectly. If you’re from the US, you know how much rushed service can ruin a meal. Not here. A perfect meal overall, come here if you’re in Porto!“

“An exceptional place. The food, the ambience and the staff are fabulous. The owner is a sommelier and is truly dedicated to providing a great experience for the patrons. He is running the place not as a business machine but as a passion of his. That is what truly makes it unique. A friend of mine and I had a long chat about wine with him and he was so knowledgeable and warm and open. He spent a couple of hours chatting with us and giving us a fantastic taste across an array of lovely Portuguese wines. We are planning on going back to Lisbon for work in a couple of years, but we are definitely going to add a Porto trip to go back to ODE.ps. The owner is also open to selling wine from his collection. Don't miss it if you are after some really good Portuguese wines. Thanks Cristovao! We (Nima & Andre) will back!“

“Great service and the whole evening was lovely but if I'm being picky I've been here twice and both times I've thought the music and lighting doesn't match the setting and I think the food is lacking a little flavour... sadly. The food does look incredible but the mains especially just lack a little punch.“

“Small place but well located, very cozy and with a good atmosphere. The dishes you will find are tapas, ideal for sharing and ordering a few different ones.We ask for:- Patatas bravas: very delicious, although they are barely spicy in case you are looking for some spicy bravas.- Baked Camembert: what we liked the most. Very delicious, this is baked spices and nuts with a sweet base. Eating it with toast is a pleasure.- Fried eggplants with honey: very delicious, the honey is very sweet and the eggplants are perfect.- Chicken moamba: great discovery, we loved this chicken dish with a peanut sauce.- Sautéed squid: what we liked least, honestly, we didn't like the calamari or the sautéed food.- Cod croquettes: large in size and they taste a lot like cod so they are great.- Desserts: we ordered chocolate brownie and cheesecake. We highly recommend them, we loved them. If you like sweets, you can't miss them.Fantastic service and great price. For more than the price we had a 30% discount on the fork, so the dinner ended up at €41 with both of us drinking water.“

“I will certainly recommend it to all my friends and will come back again. The food was impeccable, very tasty and extremely carefully prepared. All the staff welcomed us extremely well, special note for the blonde Portuguese attendant with glasses (unfortunately I didn't catch her name), she was so kind, so kind, my wife and I wanted to hug her. Caio, the other attendant, was also lovely. Place to come back and feel welcomed. And the environment is a little noisy, but very well decorated, it reminded me of my mother and my daughter's house.Criticisms: 1-) I read, I don't know if on the website or somewhere that the stay limit is 2 hours, I hate having to eat and worry about it. Although the restaurant seemed very flexible to me, the existence of this rule would eliminate me taking a friend of mine who I haven't spoken to in a while, as I would be afraid of exceeding the time limit.2-) A lot of noise, as I am partially deaf it is difficult to hear those at the tables, but this problem is difficult to solve, I believe that only by investing in a noise-absorbing ceiling or reducing the number of tables, none of these solutions are very possible, so I don't believe anything can be done about it and I didn't take the noise into account when giving the rating.“
