“Very cute little restaurant in the city centre of Funchal.
Had the Gyoza, which was to die for, and the Pizza Mozarella, which was also very good and fresh.
Waiters were super nice and accomodating- excellent service.
Will definitely come back.“

“Amazing food. Unfortunately the deal doesn't provide a good selection of wines. They just provide house white or red after a small sparkling wine. They should provide dessert wine and a selection over the course of the meal. Not just house wines.
Last year Chris' food quality was similar but the alcohol selection in the past was loads better.“

“I remember it being a good restaurant, with good service and, above all, good distance between tables. However, I no longer remember the dishes we ate or how much we paid. The food was good, as meals in Funchal are generally good for a restaurant of this level, and the price was higher, as prices are generally higher in restaurants of this level in Funchal.“

“We were looking for a place with a reasonable offering for meat eaters and vegetarians. Through our research we specifically looked for this shop, which - because it was on the 1st floor and had no tables on the street - was easy to miss. A relatively small operation with exceptionally good food. Small problem: we had three young ladies between 12 and 18 with us, and the description of the dishes ("sophisticated cuisine") was a bit confusing. There's no place to order a meat skewer with a mountain of fries, but in the end everyone found a dish and none of them disappointed, in fact most of them were excellent. In the end, everyone had an excellent quality starter, main course and dessert, and at a more than fair price. A clear recommendation if you want to skip the standard dishes.“

“We got a place for six people without a reservation. Unfortunately, the high chair that we would have needed for our baby was reserved for another family all evening, but they didn't use it from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. For this reason there are only four stars and a deduction for service, even though David was very attentive, friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was a little disturbed when the boss reprimanded the staff and we had our table right next door. The food was excellent and the price/performance ratio was right. We'd love to come back and reserve the high chair next time ?“

“A small restaurant in Funchal, with quality. The boss has 2 more? Restaurants the Kampo and the Theos, I think. The kitchen is open with a counter where you can also eat as an individual. The dishes were imaginative and delicious. Even things that you might not like are prepared in such a way that they taste good. The main course grouper with seafood rice was AMAZING. Super delicious and we continued to eat even though we were full for a long time because the taste was really good... Thank you that there are still restaurants that cook fresh and good food in high season... It's a bit small but still great.
Great service and child friendly... THANK YOU
Kid-friendliness: Good“

“Restaurante Informal serves some of the most tasty and delicious food I've come across in Funchal, and the charming and cozy atmosphere just adds to the experience. We've gone through most of their menu during our stay on Madeira in February, and along with some amazing hiking experiences, the food from Informal is still being brought up as one of the highlights of our visit!“

“We visited Avista three times during our thirteen days in Madeira and enjoyed every visit, to the extent that we did not recognise the negative comments in some other reviews. On each occasion our meals were outstanding (each course was stunning but my last meal of beef tartare, tuna on the josper with barbecued pineapple and mashed potato (inspired by Joel Robuchon), and crème brûlée was simply stunning. The service was also outstanding and while it is probably unfair to identify one person, I will - our favourite darts player merits special attention and we look forward to hearing how he did in the nationals during our next visit.
So, to put it simply, Avista is stunning and unequivocally our favourite restaurant.“

“I highly recommend !
A very good address with a view of the ocean (in fact the restaurant overlooks the beach). The service is careful and impeccable.
The lemon poncha is one of the best and the garlic bread accompanies it deliciously for a very local aperitif. I let myself be tempted by the squid and shrimp skewer accompanied by grilled sweet potatoes. It was divine but so filling that I couldn't finish my plate. My companion had the pork ribs and he enjoyed it. They were both tender and generous. We didn't have room for dessert. With regret because those of our table neighbors were magnificent“

“Without exaggeration, one of the best meals we’ve ever had, and our favorite meal in Madeira. We got the beef brisket and pork shank, which were excellent! The meats are all marinated and smoked on-site and the flavors are truly delicious. To drink we just had the fresh squeezed lemonade which was wonderful. For dessert we had the passion fruit crème brûlée which was incredible. Wonderful and super friendly service! If you have the chance, definitely make it a point to try this place!“

“Very friendly and caring service (multilingual). Grilled tuna and espetada (meat on skewers) were good. Salad was fresh and tasty. The fries alone were too dry. Good selection of wine (Mateus Rose - very fruity and suitable for a summer evening).
Plastic chairs don't invite you to linger in warm weather, but as already mentioned, the friendly service makes up for it.
Gladly again!
Since the menu has a lot to offer, we went back two days later: our recommendation... Hot Stone Steak!!! You have to be prepared for the hot sauce - it's quite something!“

“Our lunch at the Lavrador São Vicente restaurant was a real highlight of our stay in São Vicente. We tried the grilled mussels and the fish of the day (sea bass) and were amazed by the quality and taste of the food. The mussels were grilled to perfection and the sea bass was fresh and superbly prepared.
The price-performance ratio is unbeatable. Despite the high quality of the dishes, the prices are more than fair, making this restaurant a must for anyone in São Vicente. The service is also particularly noteworthy: the service was extremely nice and made us feel very welcome.
Overall, we can only warmly recommend the Lavrador São Vicente restaurant. If you are in São Vicente, you definitely shouldn't miss this culinary experience!“
