The location was beautiful and the service great. I’m giving the 3 stars based on the food. I have no issues paying top $ for my food, as long as the quality comes with it. My duck was soo tough and my partners filet mignon was nothing special for $80. It was no tender and flavourful as a filet mignon should be.

On our driving trip from The Point at Lake Saranac New York to Quebec City we stopped off at the Ripplecove Hotel & Spa in Ayers Cliff, Canada. We enjoyed the hotel and had a special evening as we dined at Le Riverain at the inn. The view of the lake was spectacular. The ambiance was great but the special part of the evening was our server (and the Maitre d'hotel) Mr. Roy. He is a great server including funny, charming, knowledgeable and prompt and on top of all that he is an amazing piano player. A great evening which all should experience!

We had 3 dinners at the restaurant and ordered twice the same dishes. The first day - Monday - it was exceptional - Tuesday was very good but Wednesday was average even if we ordered what we ordered on Monday. So it is difficult to comment. Dinner and breakfast were included in our package so we didn’t pay the price in the menu. I don’t know for sure if we would have the same plate if we were ordering à la carte but definitely it is overpriced for the quality of our Wednesday meal but was fair for our Monday meal quality.

Very good table but service that leaves something to be desired.. waiting before having a table that we understand but being refused our choice of menu because of this same expectation, it is a first.

Le Riverain is the on-site restaurant for Ripplecove Hotel & Spa (but is open to the public). Located along the shores of Lake Massawippi, Le Riverain has a serene vibe that matches its upscale dining experience. As we were staying on site we had two meals at the restaurant, dinner and breakfast.DINNER: We arrived for our dinner rez at 7:30pm after most of the patrons were seated and were unable to secure a table on the outside porch. However, following our request, the hostess found a table that was just vacated and sat us outside which is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED (weather permitting). The outside terrace is not large and every spot can easily enjoy the calming ripples of the water against the shore. The menu, using mostly local ingredients, is varied but with a root in French cuisine. We indulged and had Zucchini Flowers (excellent), Halibut (delicious), Red Tuna (also excellent) and Chocolate Cherry for dessert (also delicious). Service and ambiance where totally on point and worth the visit. Great for a special event or date night.BREAKFAST: This serving was a mix of all included cold buffet plus a single hot dish. The buffet include the usual suspects like fruits, pastries, juices, etc... For the hot dish we hand the back and spinach benedict (very good) and cheese omelet (also very good). Once again, got to sit outside on the deck this time during a down pour (which, frankly, was just as pleasing). Like dinner, service was excellent and attentive.Enjoy!

This is the restaurant of the Ripplecove Inn, somewhat away from the town of Ayer's Cliff on the peaceful shoreline of a sheltered cove at the west end of Lake Massawippi. The cove is of no interest to the speed-boats and skiers visible in the distance, so all you'll hear is occasional quacks and hoots of waterfowl paddling past your white-cloth table. The food? Excellent! For two nights' stay, we enjoyed two dinners and breakfasts, a bit pricey but superb. The only Hollandaise sauce firmer than my own. I'm sure lunch would have been equally yummy, but we needed time to digest the lavish breakfast. And no bugs! They had citronella lamps between porch and the water which never needed to be lit, though I don't know how.

Wonderful dining experience. It was our anniversary, and we were seated outside on the lake waterfront. The meal was served at a ‘just-right” pace so we could enjoy each course, wine, and conversation. The food was delicious, fresh farm to table. (It was our anniversary, and the dessert came with “felicitations” in beautiful food art. The staff were kind and helpful. This was a most wonderful evening!

The restaurant is in general good: nice view and quality food. But the waitress gave us an attitude just because we changed table a few times, while the room was only half full. We moved outside as they highly recommended us to seat at the heated patio. Then I noticed the radiator was right above my head and the heat was overwhelming. So we moved to the cooler side. The waitress was already upset and asked if it was the last time we change seat. She also told us we can’t just sit wherever we wanted, we must ask for their permission because they have a specific way of arrangement. So we promised we will not move again, and we felt quite embarrassed for being so demanding. However, with the evening cold wind rising from the lake I really had to move back inside. My left side of body was freezing because of the wind and my right side body was baked by the radiator. After a long wait, they finally guided us to a table next to the hall way in front of the counter, to punish us for changing table for so many times. The whole evening I had to watch people passing by us and “enjoy” our dinner in the hustle. But was it my fault if your “heated patio” wasn’t really that welcoming? And is it too much if we just wanted to sit and try a few times until we find the best seat, for a dinner that cost $230 for two? Did we deserve to be “punished”?
