This restaurant is so good every time I go I eat my food and everyone else’s the crepes (sweet and salty) are a perfect texture and the quantities are generous. The staff is super nice and I’ve been a few times already they remember you. Prices are good and coffee is delicious. 10/10 would recommend

We came from Toronto to visit family and friends in Aylmer and decided to go out for breakfast. We chose this place and are very pleased. It’s walking distance to the beautiful Ottawa river. The restaurant has a nice seating area outside, the food is amazing, friendly staff and great service. We loved the coffee and my cappuccino as well. The inside area is so cute and inviting. On the porch they have two small tables with swinging chairs. We loved it and will come back next time we are in the area.

We have been here several times on different occasions and we have received a very consistent good quality food and service.
Lately they have changed their menu a bit and one of our favourite items, Smiley, has been removed but they still have enough good choices. They seem to be a family business and they use local products like sausages, handmade chocolate and greens. Our favourite is a hot chocolate that’s made by a nearby local business. They are very popular in the area and do not take reservations, you may see a line if you arrive late. They also have some art work and other items around the space for sale. It’s located in a historic home in the heart of historic Aylmer.

11:45 this Sunday, I made a little discovery. I decide to take my daughters there. When entering no reception available. After 2 minutes of waiting, a waitress asked us to wait 5 minutes. At the same time I see the pastry chef (who is frying the pancakes) turn around and give us a nasty look and whisper to another waitress that my daughter took a chocolate from the box and who should go and check... The latter hurries and comes tell us: sorry but we have a waiting list. I told him the chocolate in question was given by the waitress who asked us to wait so no need to make any derogatory comments. She answers no no it wasn't us she was referring to. I turn around and tell him but we are the only customers at the entrance. She says no, there was someone just before. Well, I let it go and ask for a table for 3. The waitress tells me that there is a waiting list. I asked approximately how long, she said 30 minutes maximum. I asked if the restaurant doesn't make reservations in advance or can you call to put yourself on the waiting list automatically. She says no unfortunately it's a first come, first served basis. I say okay, she can take my information as soon as a table becomes available she can contact me. However, at the foot of the door, 2 other ladies enter and ask for a table. The same waitress responds: we have a small waiting list of 10 minutes. One of the ladies explains that they come from Massonangers, the waitress replies ohh you can call next time we already put you on the list. I turn around and ask 1 min rather we couldn't put on a waiting list or make a call but all of a sudden it's possible? She said she didn't quite understand my question. What service!
I wonder how can a local restaurant treat people with such discourtesy or should I say favoritism(skin color)??
Unfortunately the place that seemed friendly for a family brunch will not be kept in my favorites after this experience, no thank you! Ps: I received a return call at 1:00 p.m. and I declined. The restaurant closes at 2 p.m. ??

It wasn't my choice to come here but I am glad I did. The food was much better than I expected. The atmosphere was combo of old home with cool decore and interesting art and craft products for sale. The restaurant is cyclists friendly as well. Would go again.

I visited this restaurant because several people recommended it to me. However, having celiac disease, the waitress told me that the two types of pancakes (buckwheat and with gluten) were cooked on the same plate and therefore the risk of cross contamination is enormous. This restaurant is therefore not recommended for people with celiac disease, contrary to what some comments might indicate.

On the other hand, the non-celiac people accompanying me loved their meal. So I highly recommend a visit!

This popular local restaurant is a great place to find unique products. I love their cute Aylmer postcards and the old town map. Their food is also killer. The Metcalfe brunch was perfect for two people and the lattes and mimosas were amazing. Great brunch spot!

We showed up with two for brunch and were told it would be a wait, which we were fine with. We were told “soon” and “just 20 minutes” — then, that the table was being prepared. All in we waited over an hour before giving up and leaving. We want to support local business but not one that lacks the decency to be straight up with patrons about wait times. We would have left much sooner had staff been transparent about the wait time — instead we left frustrated and hungry to find somewhere else.
