Amazing food—very tasty and refreshingly creative, not your usual mainstream menu. The place is small but very cozy, with excellent service. A great find!

We went to Clandestin Cuisine Créative for dinner tonight and it was so good that I had to write a review. Everything was incredible, from the service to the beer to the food - from appetizer to dessert. I can’t remember the last time I was so satisfied with a meal out. My wife had the fried chicken Caesar salad and I had the fried chicken and brisket sandwich. Both had incredible flavour and the poutine that came with my sandwich was out of this world - words cannot even describe how good it was- never had a poutine like that before. Our 5 year old kept saying that it was the best meal she’s ever had!

The menu is only in French, but they do an amazing job accommodating anglophones (Google translate is your friend as well), and it is a small place, so you may want to call ahead, but I cannot recommend it enough. It makes me was to come back to Gatineau just to eat there again, and I live over 6 hour away.

Le Clandestin has been opened for over 10 years an dI have visited it many times.I always felt this was Gatineau's own Garde-Manger ( Chef Chuck Hughes Old Montreal hub). Attentive & cheery service from owner and chef Éric Duchesne, who expertly suggests the curated wine & beer selection and accompanies a guest well with their menu choices. Now on to the food!! The corn fritters were moist and so incredibly flavourful I had to share with my convives! What a sacrifice ;-) Korean funky fried chicken were like cake, so tender an djuicy, tasty and perfectly seasoned. The pain doré au foie gras sent me to a place of absolute comfort & joy. If you ache for tender porchetta with delectable fat and a mouth watering panzenella, cross the bridge an dcoem on over to downtown Old Hull STAT!!

10/10, amazing fried chicken and perfect wine list.

Best chicken sandwich in the greater Ottawa/Gatineau area. The entire menu is stunning, but filled with fried chicken, sauces, foie gras. A lot of decadent and heavy food, but worth it. Lighter options like salad and poke too. The drink menu is also top notch. Limited draft options, but they are always curated and mainly focused on the best of the Quebec beer scene with highlights from around the world. Wine list is very deep. Tons of natural/bio options that place them in the top 3 or 4 in Ottawa/Gatineau. Limited inside seating and a patio that holds about 20. No hard liquor or cocktails.

Looks great hear great things, but do they have an English menu for those who don't speak French?

The food and flavors were outstanding, beautifully presented with a thoughtful and creative merging of ingredients. The photos I posted reflect the care and excellence that went into each dish.

However, a few things to note: if you're sensitive to the smell of smoke, the patio may not be ideal. While understandable given the location, it does detract from the overall experience for me. Moving inside is an option, but hard to do when the place is packed, also changes the vibe of the setting.

Also, there was no kids' menu or English version of the menu available. Thankfully, our waitress was incredibly helpful and made navigating the menu much easier.

Crazy menu options you won't see anywhere else (and the menu is always changing). Best fried chicken, hands down. Fun and different wine and beer options. Amazing service.
