“This is as true as it gets if you are looking for a great pick for old school MTL Diner food that is less mainstream. Beautiful steamie and poutine with very dark gravy was served to me in a very reasonable amount of time. Service was fine. No idea how old this place is but it's definitely old. Wish them continued longevity.“

“Found this place after moving in the neighborhood and I come here from time to time.Just taking a table next to the window makes me feel on those typical tv shows where you have your local dining with a very friendly environment.It is remarkable how all the staff makes everybody feel welcome as family, some people arriving are acquaintances, some others just usual customers. You see them greeting people by name and even hugs for old friendships, which gives me a total warmth feeling as if I was just at home having breakfast.This has already become my favorite place to have a comfy breakfast while reading at my table and feeling “at home”.“

“It was pretty decent, but it wasn't quite what I was looking for. I am looking for a thick, crispy fry, and something different with the gravy, not sure what exactly. Maybe a richer flavor and thicker texture?

I wouldn't be disappointed if I was served this poutine again, but I will continue to try other places instead.“

“I don’t go often but there’s something special about the burgers’ flavour that makes me want to eat there whenever I’m in the area. It’s a bit small for the price but the thin bread is a nice concept. Friendly service although I have to advise the manager not to scream at your employees and even less if you have clients around. Overall it’s a good place to have a burger once in a while.“

Steamies were disappointing - dogs were small and toppings lacked flavour.

At dinner time, at New York Fries at Carrefour Laval, I was treated to a large poutine named in my honor: the “Seb” poutine. In this poutine, there are (if I remember correctly): fries, cheese curds, pieces of pickles and merguez, cheese sauce and brown sauce for poutine, pieces of bacon and the all served with a fountain drink. It was a real treat!“

“This was the very first Lafleur that I ever ate at in early summer of '84, I was living at Allancroft Group Home -- unit Woodside -- and was brought to eat there with a few kids in the unit by a staff member named Tony. We all just had steamies & fries. Heck, it was also the first time I ever had fries that didn't come in a bag made at a factory. I actually wouldn't eat in this location again until approximately around the same time 15 years later with Tony as I was visiting Montreal from Toronto.“

“For over 75 years Royal Sous-marin has been serving up Greek and Quebecois fast food and full meal favourites while maintaining quality and value — even in today’s difficult market conditions.

Unlike some of these type of old-school diners the service and cleanliness here are exemplary.

I had wanted to try this cool spot for a while, so finally went for a late lunch and had a chicken souvlaki pita with fries and a Pepsi (as a trio).

It was freshly made and perfectly cooked. With ample chicken on a thicker whole wheatish pita that was a unique highlight of the meal. The tzatziki was smooth and a bit savoury which worked with the pure flat top grilled chicken pieces. Plenty of fries with no skimping on the mayo on the side and a basket of ketchup packets on every table. Such a handy and equally smart touch.

Shout out to Steve and Katrina who were quite friendly and made me feel welcome.

Also to mention they now have an online ordering platform that comes with 10% off plus their own delivery person and also Uber Eats is available.
