C'était notre deuxième fois au Bistro 701. Notre première visite, remontant à février dernier, avait été impeccable. Gros coup de cœur pour le tartare de bœuf! Cette fois-ci, quelle déception! J'ai dû retourner mon tartare car il goûtait le poisson. J'avais demandé une salade vinaigrette à part et pas de frites. On m'a apporté des frites et une salade avec vinaigrette. La salade a été changée. Pour ne pas gaspiller ces accompagnements, j'ai simplement demandé qu'on m'apporte un steak, comme mon conjoint, qui avait commandé le steak/frites.Tout était parfait de son côté, cependant c'était la première fois qu'un steak/frites ne comprenait pas au minimum quelques légumes ou une salade. Malheureusement, après plus d'une demi-heure d'attente, je n'avais toujours rien reçu. Mon conjoint avait terminé son repas, ma salade était terminée, j'avais grignoté quelques frites... J'ai demandé à tout annuler. Notre serveur a été impeccable et le service était irréprochable. On nous a offert notre bouteille de vin et on nous a dit qu'il y avait des difficultés en cuisine. Donc en résumé, excellent service, magnifique ambiance, mais cuisine très problématique. Nous donnerons peut-être une autre chance au Bistro 701, mais cette visite a été très décevante.

I really enjoyed my experience at this brewery. First of all the place is very clean and beautiful but the staff is very warm and polite! As for the food, it was very good and it was good quantities and value for money. :)

I went to this restaurant for a birthday. We were in the private room at the back of the restaurant and we had the table d'hôte menu for $70. As a starter, I ate snails for the first time and it was very good! For the main course, I had the steak and fries. The steak was cooked as requested. I found the fries a little overcooked. The matcha dessert was okay. Service-wise it was OK, waiting times were reasonable. I just didn't like the reception. When we arrived we were waiting for someone to come and greet us but we were ignored. Several employees walked past us without even paying attention to us. I had to force myself on an employee to take us to the private room. That disappointed us a little.

I came here for a weekday dinner and the restaurant was almost full when I arrived. I got lucky that I had a reservation.It’s located perfectly within walking distance from both Notre Dame and old port.I really liked the vibe; many groups were enjoying their food, drinks or dessert. The staff are helpful and friendly.I originally came in for an appetizer, but the dessert menu was so attractive that I decided to go with appetizer and dessert. I got lucky that they weren’t out of escargot. So I tried “Escargot in Parsley Sauce” after my complementary bread and butter. I really like the combination of parsley sauce with olives and puff pastry.I also enjoyed “Rocher Praliné” for my dessert. I’m happy I hadn’t had my main course as it is very rich.
The food was outstanding and the presentation was even better. Each plate was appetizing and lovely to look at. Brasserie 701 understands we eat with our eyes alon with our mouths. The service was great but not obsequious. I highly recommend this restaurant
We waited 2 hours for dinner service without even getting to dessert. It took a long time for appetizers to come and then even longer for entrees to come. When the entrees came, one of the entree was wrong. Food was mediocre. Escargots tasted like it's straight from a can. Mussels were dried up to the point where it had no sauce (just sitting in a pool of oil). Seating was also an issue; they had tables seated too close together. People kept bumping into one of our seats as they navigate to their spaces.
Très déçue de notre soirée- Nous fréquentons ce restaurant depuis. 2 ans et malheureusement ce sera notre dernière visite pour un grand bout- Service chaotique- jamais la même personne à notre table- le steak frite qui est en fait une bavette est proposé seul dans l'assiette sans salade ou légumes.. furent-ils minimum.. les frites sont servies dans un bol de soupe à l'oignon qui est déposé dans l'assiette..donc ´a l'assiette, ns ns retrouvons avec un morceau de steak « chenu » et un gros bol de frite..dommage, je n'ai pas de photos- indigne de la réputation du 701 et indigne de 38$- tous les serveurs étaient derrière le bar et semblaient bien s'amuser entre eux... alors que nous attendions nos apéritifs!! Bref, le steak commandé Medium est arrivé bien cuit et l'expérience était tellement pénible depuis notre arrivée, que j'ai décidé d'en manger la moitié et de nous presser de quitter pour aller prendre le dessert et le digestif ailleurs -

Lovely place for brunch! I had the chicken and waffle plate and it was so delicious. Coffee was also good and service was excellent. Would definitely recommend. You can also make reservations for breakfast and brunch which is a plus.
