Good casual place for a coffee

Michael Schwartz

The best coffee in Monkland Village, no contest. And open from 7 in the morning!

The coffee is delicious and I’m so glad that the barista comes to one of our schools near Monkland.

Food and coffee good even though a bit overpriced, but the place is a bit dirty They are not really friendly and they keep air conditioning literally shooting on the head of customers. I got sick!!!!! Not recommended

The website says open until 6pm, it’s 5:55 and they’re closed. I walked 15mins for this coffee. Disappointed in the false time on Google.

Great casual terrace to enjoy your coffee outdoors. Sit and chat for as long as you like. Some people had their dogs. I had a single shot latte which was good, but I’d probably go for a double shot next time. They have some croissants and cookies but I didn’t see any food.

Looking for the perfect espresso in Montreal? Café de' Mercanti on Monkland Ave is a true gem that brings a slice of Italy right to NDG! 🇮🇹☕️

From the moment you walk in, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee hits you, and you know you’re in for something special. Their espresso is hands-down one of the best in the city—rich, smooth, and authentically Italian, just like in Rome. Whether you’re a coffee purist or love a creamy cappuccino, you’ll find your new favorite here.

The vibe is cozy and welcoming, with friendly staff who make you feel like a regular even on your first visit. There’s plenty of seating inside and a cute garden terrace for sunny days—perfect for catching up with friends or enjoying a quiet moment with a book. Don’t miss their pastries and fresh cannoli, piped to order and absolutely delicious.

Café de' Mercanti is more than just a coffee shop—it’s a neighborhood hub with a real community feel. If you’re in NDG, do yourself a favor and stop by for a true Italian coffee experience. Highly recommended!

You need to try this place. I went to get a sandwich on Friday, may 16th at 3:30 and the service I received was INCREDIBLE. The employees were so kind and loving. They even took the time to compliment my hair. I went in for a few minutes, and they literally made my day. That is what a coffee shop is all about: warmth and friendliness!

Love this place. The coffee is amazing and the staff is the same. It does get busy but the line moves fast and it’s worth the short wait. Pastries and snacks are all delicious.
