Mediocre, overpriced, lukewarm coffee. Staff were very nice.

We are very cramped

Writing a review is sometimes a difficult but rewarding exercise in introspection. For good reason, I do not want to cowardly write that I “liked” this or that thing without trying to understand the underlying causes. In the case that currently concerns me, I try to trace the origin of the thought:

“That would be a café I would like to come back to for a tête-à-tête.”

After careful reflection, I realize that this feeling is due to a characteristic of this Névé café in particular: its narrowness.
What can I say! In general, I like tight places. This makes them more attractive, cute, accessible and conducive to two-person discussions (my favorite type of discussion) by immediately excluding the presence of large groups. At Névé, there is only one long wooden table, just one. If you speak with eloquence and enthusiasm like this young man with a rich vocabulary to my left, your words will penetrate every pair of ears present. On the other hand, if you lean slightly forward and chat gently (no loud music to bury you) like K. and me, you will be in your own little bubble, you, your partner, your hot chocolate (soft, frothy , without bitterness) and your cranberry iced tea (too diluted for my taste, I felt like I was drinking $5.75 flavored water). Obviously, you can also choose to work there in peace for an hour or live there (like this other young man with his toothbrush case).

By arriving earlier, we would have happily put their chocolate chip cookie to the test (the only product in the homemade display - if I understood correctly -), the scones from "Le Monde est Scone" and the pastries from the “Aube” bakery). Too bad, for these little pancakes which are already sold out, we will surely recover by visiting the other Névé café, the one on Rachel where they come from (this is information provided by the barista, a quarter of whom of work that was ending had perhaps made her indifferent or weary in our interaction).

Furthermore, I leave it to the photos to paint for you with greater accuracy the decor of the establishment (or its almost absence): white walls and hanging light bulbs, with a few trinkets on a shelf at the entrance. . Purely aesthetic choice or thoughtful decision to avoid creating a feeling of suffocation, given the proximity of the walls?

Vegetarian options: We should rather talk about a total absence of options for carnivores. Poor them!

Parking: Mont-Royal Avenue is closed to cars. I found several places on Berri Street not far from the cafe.

Kid-friendliness: No...

Wheelchair accessibility: No steps to take, but no automatic door.

Really delicious coffee! I had an iced latte and it was great. Thank you! Seems like a cute spot to hang out and read a book

The Cold Brew was amazing. Fruity coffee aromas with a roasted background that is not too overpowering.

Nice little café, I like to order an affogato on their summer menu!

Very bad quality of coffee especially for the price. Barista looked confused and did not mixed the ingredients.

Cafe Neve used to be one of my go-to places for coffee, but my last experience was terrible. The employee was unprofessional, making us wait over 10 minutes while she had a conversation and complained about customers loudly with someone . The coffee she made was undrinkable, a far cry from the quality we usually enjoy here. I hope this review prompts some changes, as Cafe Neve has always been a favorite of mine.

Hum, this cold brew coffee is...i dont know, simply not good? Perhaps she did not know what she was doing? Maybe the fault is not hers, but the one who taught her? Maybe the coffee is cursed? Maybe it's my own taste buds, but we ordered 2 of them, and both were...subject of controversy, so i really dont know (12h25pm jeu 4th of july)

Excellent coffee and services, but the air conditioning seems to be faulty - it was very hot and humid.
