Don't get me wrong, I love Santropol. The backyard atmosphere is a real treat and the soups and sandwiches are decent, but the service needs some tweaking. I've been going to Santropol for around 30 years now, and each time the waiters seem to act like you should feel privileged to be there and lucky to be served by them. They rarely crack a smile. Nevertheless, Santropol is a great place to go for lunch. Bring your friends from out of town!

I don't usually leave bad reviews, or any reviews at all, but I feel like this was egregious. I looked up tipping etiquette for cafes in canada and pretty much all sources said it's 'appreciated but not expected'.Today I ordered one non-complicated drink and the guy gave me flack for not tipping: "usually people tip 15% so make sure to leave something". This just seems rude, especially since I had to go up and order my drink after waiting a while and when I received it the glass was soaked and dripping on the outside. My financial situation isn't their problem, but since they make minimum wage in Québec they're earning way more than me at the moment and this was a once in a month treat for me.I would absolutely tip at a sit down restaurant, and I have worked service in the past. Maybe I'm in a bad mood today but this really just irked me. I feel weird going back so I probably won't.

Super!!J’adore ce petit gem du plateau.Caché, avec peut-être la plus belle terrasse qu’un café aurait jamais eu!J’ai adoré mes lectures matinales au Santropol cet été!J’y suis retourné et le service n’était pas aussi doux qu’avant mais Santropol restera toujours une bonne environnement pour une bonne ambiance et un bon café!
