This was by far the best Italian I’ve had in my life and the owner is such a sweet person❤️ Loved his spirit to cook a loving meal for his customers ?

Cute and cozy little restaurant run by the owner himself and sometimes a helper. It's a great place to chill and chat with friends/dates with your own wine. Meals are great but come out slow since the friendly grandpa cooks everything himself so it's not for people in a hurry to grab a meal.

Have been trying to call to make a reservation with no answer, Have been there last week on Friday night at 6:30 to 6:45’- nobody came to open. Several others were also there waiting, but left as well when Ennio did not appear.

I would love to tell about my experience there, but yesterday I've waited for 30 minutes to open and had to go eat somewhere else

My mother-in-law's favorite restaurant. She turned 84 two weeks ago and we decided to reserve a table to celebrate. Delicious food, perfect service and authentic family ambiance (as usual). Hope this restaurant will remain open until the end of time. To my knowledge, Ennio is one of the last genuine old-school italian restaurants in Montreal. Enormous portions like in the old time and affordable menu. Can't believe someone would complain about this place. I invite my fellow Montrealers to support this jewel.

Love this place. We reserved the resto for a 25th wedding anniversary party as well as a baptism reception. Professional service; great, authentic Italian cuisine.

Wonderful experience! Make sure if you're coming you have time to sit down and enjoy a longer dinner - because it is a one man kitchen it takes some time for the meals to come out, but it is well worth it! If you are in a rush this is not the place for you. It's also BYOB so bring some wine! There is a convenient liquor store right next to the restaurant. The atmosphere was incredibly unique and the dishes were fantastic. The fettuccini a la Ennio was more than enough delicious pasta, I'm glad i got to take home leftovers. Chef Ennio must take great pride in people leaving his restaurant with a full belly. This place is a must if you're visiting Montreal.

As in the past visits the restaurant was cozy and the food was delicious. My veal parmigiana and roasted vegetables with potatoes was excellent. Lisa had salad, and pasta which also was outstanding. We had Bartlett pair Helene and that with coffee made the end of a great meal. The place was not as busy as usual but the service was great by the waitress and Ennio who kept us company past 11 pm. We have been coming here for as long as Ennio has been open. We are growing old together. If in Montreal make it a point to eat dinner here you will be glad you did. This is a bring your own wine establishment as well as slow european style dining. Be prepared to savor your wine and conversation while enjoying your evening.

We visited Ennio tonight, and had a really beautiful experience! The food was incredible! Absolutely delicious! As others have mentioned, prepare to spend your evening here. But know that it is entirely worth it! Came out of here relaxed and extremely well fed! Oh and you can bring your own wine!

The food was good the snail is really good and the Alfredo pasta. The Alfredo pasta has no meat just a heads up. The ambience is pretty nice and the owner is really friendly . A great experience .

An amazing genteel host. Ennio is a fantastic cook who has worked in many restaurants across Europe. We had two huge plates of homemade pasta with a fantastic sauce. A quirky place to eat where Ennio works at his own pace. As long as you are not in a hurry, I can heartily recommend this establishment. If you are in a hurry, too bad, it’s your loss.

BYOB (Liquor stores available nearby). Plan for a long, delicious and entertaining meal.

I think this restaurant could deserve five stars if not for the poor service. The food is great, portions are good. The owners pretty cool but he just doesn’t seem to have enough hired help. I expected a long wait for the food and when you got your own bottle of wine to drink and are served warm bread and butter it’s all cool finding things to chat about while passing time; but when you get to the end and all you want is your bill so you can leave; it shouldn’t take 40+ mins prior to begging for the bill. I was disappointed for my second visit, the first visit was much more memorable because the owner wasn’t working alone. Just be sure to have a lot of patience if you go to this restaurant. Also I something to note; I mean I tried to politely tell Mr Ennio that I felt his service was less then satisfactory tonight and thus I gave him a 10% instead of 15% tip but he seemed to take my remark as an insult. He needs to lighten up and realize that the customer is always right; I know how time seems to fly by when your busy but when your waiting and waiting as meals are being served to others and you gotta chase the guy down in the kitchen to finally get you your bill; it is very impolite!

We fell into this delightful little jewel by accident. Chef Ennui (80 years old, cook, waiter, bottle washer) has been at this location for 40 years delivering some of the finest Italian food this side of Venice. A great experience for locals or travellers alike. He is not licensed to sell wine, but you can slip next door and buy a bottle of wine to bring back. Be prepared to spend your evening there, listening to his stories and sampling his fine food... a 10 out of 10!
