Le Petit Sao (Vieux Montréal)

We made a reservation on Saturday for 1.45pm. After arriving there, and waiting in line to order, they tell us that they can't take our reservation (which was confirmed). Having walked all day, we wanted to sit down in the restaurant, hence why we planned and made a reservation there. Wanting to accommodate us, the employee suggested we wait 20 minutes for them to finish cleaning up *all* the tables, before letting us sit down at one. (There were many clean tables at the time). Good thing there are plenty restaurants so we were able to quickly find one without making a reservation.

Next time, it would be very helpful if reservations were reflective of real-time restaurant conditions, so that customers don't waste their time (why bother having reservations & confirming them if you can't even honor them?...)

Worst service I've ever had in a restaurant. We came in with the place basically empty but then parties coming in 20 minutes after us had their orders taken first. Extremely understaffed. After half an hour we had to flag down the server to get our order taken. Another hour to get food.

Ludicrously tiny portions. As someone who eats a lot of pho it was shocking. Even in a touristy district like Old Montreal there are far better places nearbye. Pho bowl was tiny, the broth luke warm.

Avoid at all costs if you like decent service, value, and/or good Vietnamese place. Total trashbag of a restaurant.

Two years ago I stayed in Old Mtl. Came here and end up changing other dinner plans just to come back. Everything tasted so good. The Bahn Mi and Pho Soup were SOO flavourful. Writing this review now because I was just thinking about how good it was hah.

Cute low-key place. Food was good overall, but the menu does not clearly indicate which items are vegan, in fact it appears that there are none without needing some substitutions which makes it tricky with dietary restrictions. My Bol de l’île had much sparser toppings than the picture in the menu, it didn’t feel worth the additional $3 from the normal bowl, especially since they ended up having to remove the creamy sauce as it wasn’t vegan.

My spring roll was delicious. I picked it up for lunch today and ate it a few hours later. Very tasty and hearty and made me less cranky.

I had high hopes but unfortunately found that the food was quite overpriced. The tofu bún was 90% rice noodles with literally 1 lettuce leaf and a sprinkle of vegetables and fresh herbs. Disappointing.

I enjoyed my pho (even though it came with chicken and did not have a beef option, which is a bit strange in pho terms), but my girlfriend did not like the tofu. So 4 star is a middle ground. The atmosphere and service were great though.

My wife and I had gone downtown for the day and and at one pointe we got hungry we found petit Sao and decided to give it a try. And we are so happy we did.very reasonable prices and the food and service was amazing and the place is very kinda cool inside it's small and very cool. I would recommend trying it.
