Despite the service being a bit lacking, this place truly lives up to its reputation. We tried the chicken and poutine, calamari, and egg tart—all were delicious! The space is quite small and better suited for takeout, so be prepared for a long wait during peak hours. But honestly, the food is worth it.
The French fries were horrible dry and hard
It is a popular store, prepare to queue up.
Delicious poutine
Dropped into Ma Poule Mouillée on a recommendation—and it lived up to the hype. It’s a busy, no-frills Portuguese grill known for chicken and poutine, and now I see why. I ordered the poutine with grilled chicken and chouriço (Portuguese sausage)—not a combo I would’ve picked myself, but the counter guy steered me right. First bite, my son (who swore he wasn’t hungry) said “this is good,” and next thing I knew, half my meal vanished into his belly.
The small portion was massive—big enough that we skipped dinner. Chicken was juicy, the fries held up under the gravy, and the chouriço added just the right spice and depth (same sausage you’d find in a good gumbo).
Now, heads up: wall menu is in French only, but there’s a small English one on a post. The cashier didn’t speak English (or just didn’t want to), so we didn’t manage to order dessert. Also, grab your number slip when ordering—I didn’t and got a polite but firm talking-to when I went to pay.
All that said, the place is spotless, fast-moving, and clearly loved by locals. Food this good explains the constant line. A little language confusion was worth it for a meal that delivered way beyond expectations.
Pro tip: Get the chicken and chouriço poutine. Don’t ask questions—just order it and enjoy the ride.
Food was delicious and big portion. but not a good place for dine in, especially in a hot summer days . may consider take out.
Poutine was amazing!! Would order again in a heartbeat. Ordering was a tad slow and it was very hot inside but enjoyed it very much
Absolutely one of the best Portuguese chicken places in the plateau borough. The chicken is super tender and juicy, and the piri piri sauce has to be some of the best I had. Very nice kick of heat with amazing flavors from the various spices.
This place gets packed up very quickly if you are planing on eating inside the restaurant. However, parc La Fontaine is across the street, which offers lot of picnic table to sit down at.
10/10.
best chicken I've had.
Poutine is so good. Comes super loaded up with gravy, cheese, and meat toppings like chicken and sausage. Not exactly traditional poutine, but it sure is tasty.

LOL do they even need another 5 star review -- It's amazing! What else is there to say. We tried a lot of poutine on our visit and this was one of the more memorable one -- Skip the overhype poutine the street, stick to Ma Poule you won't regret it.
Excellent wow
Very delicious food!! Their poutine is one of a kind! However, be careful, I had a few bone pieces in my poutine from the chicken.
Impressive chicken.
Went order in person but seems they already prepacked the numbers… chicken was over roasted and dried. Overall just …
