I have never felt so unwelcome in a restaurant before. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was uncomfortable. The staff kept watching our table throughout the night, and it honestly felt like they were expecting us to leave without paying. It was embarrassing and insulting.
The service was beyond slow. We waited forever just to get water, drinks, and food. Every time we needed something, it felt like we were inconveniencing the staff.
The food was not worth the wait. The skewers were undercooked, bland, and lacked flavor. For the prices they charge, I expected much better quality.
What really ruined the evening was the attitude of the manager. She was rude, cold, and made us feel like we were not wanted there. As Black customers, the way we were treated left a very bad impression and made us feel singled out and unwelcome.
I used to hear good things about this place, but after this experience, I will never return. There are plenty of restaurants in Montreal that know how to treat customers with respect. Save your money and go somewhere else.

I used to be a regular at this bar and always enjoyed coming here, which makes this review especially disappointing.
On one visit, I was told they were closing and could not seat me. However, moments later, my friend who was already inside told me they accepted more people.
I decided to give the place another chance, but on my next visit I was told there was a minimum spending requirement to stay, something that had never been mentioned to me before despite being a frequent customer. The inconsistency was frustrating and made me feel like the rules were being applied selectively.
What disappoints me most is not the policies themselves, but the lack of transparency and respect shown to a loyal customer. Unfortunately, after these experiences, I won’t be returning.

We got a several skewers. Some were delicious, some were just ok. The chicken skin, pork belly, scallops and lamb are pretty good. The vegetables were not worth and the squid was very chewy and tough.
The service is pretty fast and the staff is nice. The price is pretty high considering that we mostly just got skewers (around 80$ per person).

I used to go this place often because the food and mood is good. But today the service was very poor and I didn’t get my food for 40min after we order the second round food. No one was take caring my table and we were just sitting there even without water for an hour. They didn’t know that the order wasn’t went through even though they took a note when we order. There was absolutely no after service for this situation.

The restaurant canceled my reservation because I cancelled the reservation before. While I have never done that and the phone number shown on the record is not me. Moreover, they did not notify us in advance, which was very inconvenient. The waitress’s attitude was also unacceptable.

Unfortunately, our yakitori came out with hardly any flavour and was quite bland.
Very weird that everything was either super sour or bland as bread. Not sure if yakitori should taste like that…
Is definitely not to our taste but might be for some people?

All meats were juicy and cooked well but definitely lacking seasoning or marinade. It was a big disappointment given the positive reviews. Spent $140 for everything in the photo plus 2 drinks. Would rather go to a steak house for ambiance and better food.

This is my favourite restaurant in Montreal, my special secret for myself, my one and only comfort-zone. On an exceptionally good or bad day, sitting alone at the bar eating grilled chickens and having a glass of umeshu brings me happiness. Comfort, warmth, low-lighting, the babel of people behind me, but it's never too loud or raucous. I love this place so much.
