Oh my god do I miss the original staff of San Marco Bakery and their reputation! It’s just not the same without them! Service, Courtesy, Promptness, etc,,, 😢😢

The pastry shop is closed on Jean Talon :'(
But zeppoles can be ordered online and delivered :D
Those who have enjoyed these famous ricotta zeppole for years can rest assured, they will find exactly what they are looking for! But it must be admitted that there is a risk of a lottery. It's a little more uneven than during the pastry's heyday.
Those who are lucky enough to have a box prepared by Christina, enjoy your happiness! The last ones delivered to me were generously filled, a fresh and light donut... Exquisite!!!
I understand the previous comments, but I advise you to give them another chance ;-)

Not going back after 25 Years of great Cakes and Patisseries. I tried the cakes under the new ownership (Donato) on 3 different occasions, which went from Dry to Horrible on the last Tiramisu purchased.

I went to pick up my baby's monthly birthday cake, but the store closed exactly at 5pm, which anyway makes it challenging for working people to make it on time. Despite calling ahead to let them know I might be a few minutes late, we arrived at 5:04 to find the store already closed. Today was especially difficult as my baby had just been vaccinated and was running a fever, yet they didn't seem to consider waiting just a few extra minutes to accommodate us. Mind you, this isn't the first time this has happened. It took us a full hour to get there, and once again, another birthday has passed without us being able to get a cake.

I ordered a bday cake off their stressedbutbackwards website and went to pickup. They got my order wrong, and upon calling and emailing them to rectify the order or have the cake replaced, they simply ignored me :/ I ordered and paid extra for heart shaped, and they gave me round. What's more is their 'buttercream' icing is clearly something from a tub, it smelled so artificial when I opened the box I was taken aback. Its similar to those sheet cakes you get at the grocery store, the ones for kids.Honestly, I wasnt expecting it to be amazing since Italian bakeries are not known for amazing layer cakes like French or even American bakeries, but the icing was terrible and the cake tasted like cake mix.I can see why the reviews have changed with their new owners, they like to cut corners and ignore their clients. I could have been a repeat customer, but I wont be back, and I certainly wont be posting any pics or giving their info to friends who might've asked be about the cute cake. All that over a $10 error ?

I used to come here for many years as we live in the area. Not sure what happened to San Marco, however ever since new owners took over the place is dusty, not well taken care of, no pizzas, no breads, no pastries on Easter. Smells like cigarettes! Un real!If your going to take over the SAN Marco Brand, then take over the San Marco brand. If your going to make it Bombolonis only then change your sign outside to your brand. Very disappointed with the quality of the products and service. C’est très dommage.

In March, I bought a dozen zepolles because the family loves fried zepolles.I was disappointed to see that the zepolles had halved compared to last year but still so expensive!!!Yesterday, I wanted to encourage them again and tell myself that maybe it was a mistake last time, but to my great surprise, the pastry shop was closed at 1 p.m. with a beautiful little note in the window!I came from far away for nothing!!!!So it's over for me!!!!Good luck for your future!

I had previously written a nice review, but I came back from picking up my zeppoles and I hadn't tasted them yet. I had excellent service that said. The people present are very nice! Before today, these were my favorite zeppoles in all of Montreal. For years, every San Giuseppe, I come specifically from the North Shore to buy several at this essential address. They were the best in the world! Unfortunately, I don't know what happened, but this year (March 2024) they are not at all the same as before. They are half the size and no longer have the good taste that set them apart from all the others. Ricotta used to taste good and it was really a tasty dessert. This year, there were 4 of us eating it and all 4 of us wondered if it was the same as in previous years. They taste like "nothing"... It tastes like fat and sugar. Point. The ricotta cream doesn't taste like ricotta at all, it's more like biting into bland whipped cream. But it is this omnipresent taste of grease which is unpleasant in the mouth. And the size... incredible, they are twice as small! Similar to the same price as before, but so much worse and smaller. Disappointing :(Let's see, San Marco, what happened to cause you to lower your standards like this?! You had an established and loyal clientele, who were even willing to travel miles to pick up our Italian desserts from you. You had a reputation! I do not understand what is happening...From a loyal customer who is really disappointed not to have found the zeppoles that she loved so much and which she advertised to everyone. Sad situation.

Is this a bad joke? I don't mind paying 30-35 dollars for four zeppole and two donuts, but they have to be good! Especially when I drive for an hour (round trip). The zeppole are now less than half their size and taste mostly of old frying oil and powdered sugar. Good luck finding the ricotta. The pistachio donut is now made up of 95% custard and only 5% pistachio cream. You just lost another long time customer! Great marketing strategy! Please don't insult your customers by telling us that the zeppole are the same as in past years... we're not idiots!
