MOTTA was an institution in Montreal. EVERYTHING was good, fresh with very reasonable prices, before the owner sold her business which is now called EMPERIUM. The new owners tend to offer poor quality, outdated properties and very, very high prices.

I have been a customer at MOTTA for 33 years... and it's been a year since I last set foot at EMPERIUM which is a real insult to real Italian cuisine! And it says it offers 'Fine Italian cuisine'. What a farce!

Poor customer service and poor management. Some rude rules, such as “you can’t eat some of our pizzas in our restaurant while we have many tables for sitting.”

Since the change of administration the quality of food has declined significantly. I bought a spaghetti carbonara and no taste other than greasy pasta. The only amount of protein was a slice of pancetta. Before there was a creamy, tasty sauce with pieces of pancetta. After other previous visits, the quality is no longer there. Now I'm looking for another caterer.

Excellent place with fine Italian products and a nice selection of ready-to-eat foods! The staff is professional and I really liked the dining room. The selections of pastas, cold meats, cakes, and salads are varied and excellent!

They are not welcoming. They are even cold. The food is not fresh. The strawberry cheesecake was outdated. Really disappointed. My lover brought me there because it's famous and I was hungry.

I used to love coming to Motta and I haven’t been in 2-3 years - I decided to go for lunch one day impromptu and the service I received was SHOCKING. I waited 20 minutes to get served as the two women at the counter didn’t even acknowledge my presence and they kept serving people who had arrived after me. When they finally took my order it took 10 minutes for them to reheat my eggplant Parmesan in the microwave, and halfway through eating my lasagna I realized the middle of it was completely cold still. I went to the counter so they could reheat it and went back to my seat - after 6 minutes I still didn’t receive my food back so I went up to the counter and saw the dish just laying on the counter before the server noticed I was there and then quickly scrambled to bring the dish to my seat.Overall just a bad experience and Motta isn’t what it used to be, food isn’t nearly as good as it was and the people working there shouldn’t be in customer service . I’m usually a patient person but I was really tested today.Not coming back!!

Rarely do you come across such poor service. Waited 20 minutes standing infront of the staff (wasnt swamped, nothing, just poor order management) as everyone was served but me, people who just walked into the store served before me.Finally as they start serving my group, im skipped immediately and the other two of my party were served???? I just stood there in shock... i ended up not getting anything, im not gonna beg yall to take my money for poorly microwaved food.

Go get my celebration cake today, the only one left in the counter and dated yesterday too... butter cream which tasted like old sour and the dough was dry inside, this cake was clearly fresh at all . a butcher taken by everyone and throw in the trash $40 very disappointed, I am a good customer in addition for my party, at the price paid it does not make sense.

I've always ordered from Motta for my work's group lunches. In December 22nd 2023, I made an order but the delivery person forgot the receipt. I've been calling them almost daily now for over a month , and could still not get the receipt, which I need since it is a work expense. I'm writing here because I don't know what else to do. Can someone please help? On my delivery notes, I wrote that the receipt was needed, it is my right as consumer to have the receipt. The situation is really annoying...

So we've been long time Motta customers for over 20 years and was are favorite Pizza in the City. Last night we ordered are usual pizza and it was absolutely the worst pizza I've ever had, nothing like it used to be. I had heard they changed ownership but we loved the pizza so we hoped that everything would be the same. The pizza was awful. The new owners obviously have cheaped out on the ingredients they use. We asked for extra sauce and there was no sauce and they put ham or sausage rinds that make the pizza taste like you chewing on plastic fibers. It was totally tasteless, low quality ingredients. Further more we called it in for pick up , arrived 30 minutes later and it took them another 30 minutes to cook it because they hadn't started it. SO DISAPPOINTED.
