This was one of the best meals I have had in a very long time, without exaggeration! I
Our very picky daughters (9 and 12 years old) really enjoyed their meals as well. We have celiac disease and gluten intolerance in our family, and there were so many options we were pleasantly surprised. We’re in Montreal for only 2.5 days, but there is a good chance we’ll end up back here before we leave!

Wasnt a big fan but no fault of the restaurant. Sardines wasn't what I expected. The was decent not over the top spectacular, no real complaints. Just wasn't my thing but I gave them a try. Always good to try something new.

Unfortunately, our experience at Porto Mar yesterday was very disappointing. After being seated, we waited approximately 15–20 minutes before anyone even came over to offer us a drink.
When the server finally approached our table, he told us that he was actually supposed to be looking after another table and that there had been some confusion. He then informed us that our food would take a minimum of 30 minutes to be prepared.
At that point, it was already a frustrating start to the evening. We understand that restaurants can get busy, but being left waiting without even being acknowledged, followed by being told there would be another 30 minute at a minimum wait for food, was not the experience we expected.
For the price and reputation of the restaurant, we expected much better service and organization.
Visited 7 pm July 29, 2026. Restaurant was not busy when we walked in, maybe 7-10 tables.
Sat down and there was no cutlery. Service was inattentive and we Had to ask for cutlery in a restaurant.
Started off with bread. Butter came in pre bought packets.
Then we had starters which took more than 20 minutes for a couple of cod croquettes and some kind of chicken and rice soup.
Then we wait
And wait
And wait
We waited for over 1 hour and no entrees
The table beside us walked in same time and already done eating
Gentleman that came 30 minutes later than us already got hes food.
No one cared to check on us or see if we were doing alright
Our server barely took the time to refill our water once when we were in the restaurant for over 90 minutes.
We had to walk out because it just got too ridiculous and we needed to eat at a reasonable time.
If the restaurant was packed i would understand but it was barely busy and they had multiple staff around premise
Never ever coming back.

Dinner was excellent. The waiter not only answered our questions but also described similar dishes that we might be interested in. The food was top notch.
We will definitely return when we are in the area.

Great food and our server Alex was great and friendly. Never tasted such a great calf liver and lemon mousse. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for Portuguese cuisine

Wow! Amazing and very authentic! I was surprised to see it wasn’t too busy. Customer service was incredible and food even better. Chef came to greet us afterwards which was nice.
Wonderful service. Delicious meal. Also easily accommodating food allergies (celiac).

This Restaurant is phenomenal. I'm here for work, and my co-worker and I arrived without reservations. Alex, the waiter was able to seat us regardless of how busy they were for the evening. We started with some of the Cod Croquettes and an order of the Chorizo. Both were great! The Chorizo was the perfect cook, and level of spice. For our mains, we both got the fish of the day. I had red snapper, and it was amazing. Cooked perfectly, and the sides of vegies and potatoes were great. My co worker had a different fish, and it's name escapes me, but his was a whole fish grill, and it was a great level of light and flaky. Will definitely be going back before I leave, and thank you Alex for such a great effort in waiting on us. Truly appreciated it.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, knowledgeable of the area and a delight to spend time with. Our server Alex selected the perfect wine for our meal. The meals were well balanced with lots of vegetables and the dessert was excellent!

The food was slightly above average, overall it's a classic old port experience were dinner is okay at a more expensive price point. The table d'hote made it much more worth it
